Fuzzibunz Perfect Size 1

With my recent post about sized vs. one-size diapers, I thought a post about Fuzzibunz Perfect Size Diapers (affiliate link) might be in order! I’ve had my size medium for almost two years, and I had several of the newborn diapers as well. The newborn diapers didn’t work for us because I had a skinny legged, heavy wetter, but they would have worked much better if they had separate waist & leg snaps like the bigger sizes. What I found most notable about the size medium was how large it was, so I was curious about the sizing of the small, and Kelly’s Closet sent me one for the Blogger Beach Bash.

When I bought the size medium diaper, I was surprised that it was larger than the Fuzzibunz one-size diaper I had. It seemed odd, since I’d expect a one-size diaper to be as large as a size large, not smaller than a size medium. It seems that perhaps sizing is not 100% consistent since other people have said their one-size Fuzzibunz are just as large or larger than their mediums and/or the new Elites vary in size. I now have 3 of the one-size diapers (old style) and all are the same size; smaller than my medium! Since I only have one medium and one small, I can only speak on the size of these two diapers!

The perfect size diapers have a waist snap and a leg snap (no hip snap), and they have one microfiber insert, sized appropriately for the diaper. The perfect size small insert is not as narrow as the inserts for the one-size diapers I have, and the crotch/pocket is cut a bit more generously.

The diaper has a stay dry inner, encased leg and rear elastic, and a rear pocket. This diaper is the spearmint color, which I love!

It is just about the same size as a Bumgenius 4.0 on the medium rise setting.

As well as the fit of a Bumgenius 4.0/medium vs. a Fuzzibunz medium on my 15ish pound 7 1/2 month old son:

The fit of the Bumgenius looks extraordinarily weird because my son was wiggling like crazy as I took the picture! I was only able to use the medium Fuzzibunz on my son because of that extra leg snap, but it was still not snug enough at the legs for me to feel comfortable adding it to our daily rotation.

I had a difficult time getting just the right fit the first time I used the small. It seemed to be either too tight on his waist, or too loose at the legs. So, I ended up using a different snap setting for the waist and legs!

I think my 7.5 month old/15 pound son would fit just fine in the mediums if his legs were a little chubbier, and my older son fit in it when he potty trained (about 30 pounds/3 years old.) Funny enough, the Fuzzibunz age/weight recommendation is 6-36 months/15-30 pounds for the medium! The medium certainly fits for a long time, and I think they are priced well at $13.95 for the XS (preemie-4 months/4-12 lbs), $14.95 for the Small (0-8 months, 7-18 lbs), $15.95 for the Medium and $16.95 for the Large (25-45 lbs, 12+ months.) I doubt my son will ever need a large, but I almost want to buy one just to see the sizing!

Fuzzibunz also has a lifetime warranty on PUL and snaps now, making these diapers a reliable investment for your baby’s cloth diaper stash!

Have you tried perfect size diapers?

I have a size Small Fuzzibunz and the rise is too high on my almost 3 month old (about 14 lbs). I’m hanging onto it for when he gets bigger. We’ll see how I like it then!

I’ve had FB Smalls, Meds, and old-style One-Size. My super-skinny son was in the smalls from 6mos-26mos, though we had stopped using them for nighttime around 18mos and moved into Meds at that point, but they still worked great for daytime. He’s currently 2.5yrs and 24lbs, and is still on the tightest waist setting and second tightest leg setting for this mediums (though I do think the elastic has relaxed a bit over the past year). I can’t imagine trying to put a Medium on a 6mo, unless that baby is off the charts on size.

I stopped using the one-size FBs before 2yrs because they just didn’t hold enough. Those soaker pads are super-narrow, and even doubled up, he would soak his diaper in one pee (and he’s not a heavy wetter). I never fully extended the elastic for him, I think we were on a combination of 2’s and 3’s for the buttons.

I really dislike the OS Fuzzibunz because of how small they are (I sold them off when my son was slightly less than a year because fully extended, it was barely fitting him! That’s not “one size” in my book! The Elite I won soon after they came out fit about the same way, so I sold that, too!) My first diapers were FB smalls and so I have always been partial to the brand, but I felt there was a HUGE jump in size from the smalls to the mediums! (Granted, the smalls I had were the old style, but he sized out of them somewhere between 4-6 months. At 17 months, I feel like the mediums are still too wide between the legs and the rise is rather high!) So, I think it’s great that their diapers are on the bigger size for kids who need bigger diapers, but I wish they’d make the jumps between sizes slightly less drastic!

I have a medium Fuzzibunz I won. When I looked at the chart I selected the large for my 24# baby. The owner of the company that I won the diaper from advised me that Fuzzibunz ran large and that based on what I told her about my baby I would probably be happier with the medium. She was right and I was thankful!

I have the same complaint about the Fuzzibunz medium. I got it as a “free diaper” because I indicated that we were a medium for sized diapers. Huge mistake. I’ve had it for months and still can’t use it on my 7 month old 20 lber. He doesn’t have skinny thighs either, though he doesn’t have chunky thighs. The rise being so long is great for us because my son is very long for his age, and sizing out of the rise for quite a few of his diapers already or soon, but the fact remains that there’s NO WAY a Medium would fit a baby at 15 lbs. Fuzzibunz really needs to revise their pattern for their perfect size diapers.
