As many of you know, I have been working with Geffen Baby for nearly a year, and I am a huge fan of their products. When I was preparing for Dirty Diaper Laundry’s 2012 flats challenge, I was bummed that Geffen Baby didn’t make a flat. I was so excited when they told me that they were manufacturing flat cloth diapers!!

Like other Geffen Baby products, their flats are knitted vs. woven, so they are very soft, and they are 100% USA made from knitting to cutting and sewing, packing etc!

The flats measure 26-27ish” square before washing, and they are 60% hemp, 40% organic cotton jersey (highest hemp content in the industry!)

They’re also really nice and stretchy, so they fit different sized babies wonderfully. Above, I was able to stretch a good 6″!

After prepping, the flat measured around 22 x 24″, and was still nice and stretchy. Hemp needs to be washed & dried at least 3 times before using, but it will gain absorbency through about 8 washes (in my experience, it continues to gain absorbency through up to 10-12 washes!)

I’ve pictured (top to bottom) a Geffen Baby Flat, a 55% hemp flat, a bamboo terry flat, an unbleached birdseye cotton flat and a flour sack towel.

I’ve origami folded the diaper & put it inside a size 2 Thirsties Duo wrap on the small setting.

My son was squirming like a…like a…what is the right analogy here? A snake trying to get a fat juicy mouse? LOL! So my fold & boingo fastening is super messy, but hey. It worked!

Even with my terribly sloppy diaper bag fold above, I just made sure it was tucked inside the cover, and I was good to go! My favorite flat fold is the pad fold (are you surprised?) and they are awesome inside a pocket or cover. Since they are just 1 layer of hemp jersey, they are really easy to get clean, even with hand washing.

With a suggested retail price of just $6.95 each, I am definitely grabbing a few more before the 2013 flats challenge!

I received the pictured diaper at no charge for review purposes. I was not asked to write, nor was a compensated for this post, and all opinions are my own. I have a business relationship with the manufacturer.

Are these as soft as the bamboo flats?

They are VERY soft! They are knitted vs. woven and they are a soft jersey (the bamboo flats are terry.)
