PMD Personal Microderm is an at-home system that allows you perform microdermabrasion treatment at home, on yourself rather than going to a dermatologist or spa.

The PMD uses rotating discs made of Aluminum Oxide Crystals (the same as is used by professional/dermatologists’ systems), along with vacuum suction. Microdermabrasion removes the top layer of dead skin cells and can improve the skin’s texture and the appearance of acne scars, age spots, fine lines & wrinkles.

The PMD is very easy to use however, it’s important to watch the included instructional DVD and carefully follow all instructions to avoid injury.

To use the PMD, always begin with the white training/ultra sensitive disc. Do a test on your neck or forearm first and wait a few minutes to check for a reaction. As you practice using the PMD and determine your skin’s tolerance, you can move on to the blue (sensitive), green (medium) or red (coarse) discs. Small discs are for the face and large are for the body.

I really like that the PMD does not use batteries. Not only is there no added expense for battery replacement, but the performance stays consistent with every treatment. The kit includes a variety of discs, and the company estimates that each disc should last for 3-4, 10 minute treatments. This of course depends on how much pressure you apply etc. Sets of 6 replacement discs (4 face, 2 body) are available for purchase.

The system is very easy to use. Clean and dry your skin, assemble the PMD (takes just a few seconds) and you’re ready. Hold your skin taut and draw the PMD upwards against your skin. It is very important to keep the device moving and not hover in any one area. Don’t go over an area more than two times in a treatment, and stop if you feel pain.

It is recommended that you wait 6-7 days between treatments, so I have only used it three times. I used the white disc the first two times, and the blue disc the last time. Although it is likely to take 5 or so treatments before seeing noticeable results, my skin immediately felt incredibly smooth. I’m anxious to keep using it! I definitely noticed more of a difference after using the blue. My skin felt a little tingly, my cheeks looked slightly pink and my skin has never felt more smooth.

The kit retails for $179, and if you have ever considered dermatologist treatments, you know how expensive they can be. One visit could easily set you back that much. Assuming you use each of the 7 included discs 4 times, that works out to $6.39 per treatment. When you purchase the 6-pack of replacement discs for $14.95, continued treatments are about 62 cents each. PMD says you can expect continued costs of less than $10/mo including replacement discs and lotions (like their skin care bundle.)

You can find PMD on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube.

I would love to try this. It is great that it doesn’t need batteries. It seems like I should buy stock in batteries with everything else.
