Delacey says:

I’m about to take the plunge with wool covers and longies. My question is what can my little one wear at night with the wool cover/soaker? It’s too chilly to just wear the soaker and I wonder if there would be an moisture wicking with cotton sleepers.

Hi Delacey! If you’re using longies, they alone should be plenty warm for night time. If you’re using soakers/covers, it might get a little chilly! Depending on how old your baby is, you can just use a sleep sack over top of the soaker to keep him/her warm. In my experience, as long as you have appropriate absorbency under a well fitting, well lanolized soaker, you shouldn’t experience any leaks or wicking with whatever you choose (make sure pants aren’t tucked into the cover!) However, I really liked using polyester fleece PJ pants over the wool as an added backup!

What do you use over wool at night?

We put cotton or fleece pjs over them basically whatever pjs we have we use we’ve never had a wicking problem

We use fleece jammie pants too but I prefer to just use our longies! As long as they are well lanolized we have no leaks and it seems her skin is so much softer because of the lanolin. We have eczema and psoriasis patches and it helps keep all that at bay by keeping her skin softer.

The liquid lanolin I use is actually sold in the health & beauty section. Great for skin!

Yep, I also use fleece pjs! We use cotton ones occasionally, but I find that our nighttime fitted+wool combo is usually too bulky for cotton pajamas (which, once they hit the 9 or 12 month sizes get super duper tight!) Fleece pjs tend to be roomier, which makes them fit better over nighttime diapers. Plus they’re a bit more backup protection, like Maria said 😉 When we’ve used cotton before, we’ve had some slight dampness, but more of a, “Hmm, is this wet? Maybe a little?” than “Wow, your pajamas are wet!”

I like the fleece pj idea that Carolyn stated above. Never would have thought of that! Though most pj’s are fleece for smaller babies.

That’s actually what I said in my post above. Polyester fleece PJ pants. 🙂
