Love Bug Baby Products Bottom Balm Review

Love Bug Baby Balm

Katie received a complementary product to review. She was not otherwise compensated for this post and all opinions are her own. Love Bug Baby Products was founded by a mother of two who was searching for a cloth diaper friendly cream, but never found one that met her needs. She tried several different creams on her baby and had less than desirable results. She decided she would create her own bottom balm using ingredients found in nature and perfect that recipe. She decided to create Love Bug Baby Products after she got several requests from friends and family for her hand made baby care products. With their own children testing the products out, you can guarantee they stand behind each and every one of their products.

Love Bug sent me their Bottom Balm to review. The bottom balm is free from all dyes and fragrances. It does has a nice scent though, but it’s not overwhelming. I really like that the scent isn’t so strong because I’m not a fan of scented products on my children. My older son has eczema, so we tend to use the same kinds of products on both boys, so we can’t use anything that can be harsh on the skin. The diaper balm has 6 simple ingredients, which is nice because you know exactly what is going on your baby’s bottom! The ingredients include Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Beeswax, Lavender Essential Oil, Vanilla Essential Oil and Grapefruit Seed Extract. I’m pretty sure the scent that I smell when I use it is the Vanilla and Lavender mixed together, which has a pleasant scent.

The Grapefruuit Seed Extract is used for irratation cause by yeast and other fungus. They add the Beeswax for a natural water repellent and the Coconut and Almond oils to keep your baby’s bottom healthy and moisturized.

Love Bug Baby Bottom Balm is cloth diaper friendly and uses the power of the lavender to soothe baby’s skin from the irritations commonly caused by diapers. I would like to note that even though this is cloth diaper safe, it’s always recommended that you use a liner when using any kind of diaper balm. You can use a simple fleece liner or even a disposable liner if needed. I personally did not use a liner while using this cream, but a little bit of the balm goes a long way. There’s no need to put tons and tons on. So I wasn’t worried about causing issues for my diapers. It’s recommended to warm a small amount of the balm between your fingers and gently rub into babies skin spreading evenly over baby’s diaper area.

This worked really well for us and will likely be the the first one I reach for. It was really gentle on my little guys bottom. I will probably end up using it for other things as well since it’s made with such gentle ingredients and would even work well for my older son.
