Change-Diapers.com vs. Fitteds and Pockets and Snappis, oh my!

fitteds and pockets and snappis oh mychange-diapers.com

I wanted to explain the whole change-diapers.com vs Fitteds and Pockets and Snappis, oh my! thing. When I started writing this blog, it was on a night in November 2009. I sat down, started the blog, and wrote post after post. When I started the blog, I never imagined it would be what it is today, so I didn’t put that much thought into it initially. I never thought anyone would read it (though I of course hoped someone would!); I was really just writing for myself.

When I opened the blogger account, I had to choose an address…xyz.blogspot.com. I tried a zillion combinations, which were all taken, until I finally tried changediapers.blogspot.com. It was available, so that’s what it was!

I thought I was ready to write, but next, it prompted me to choose a blog name. Hmm…I thought about it for a while and settled on “Fitteds and Pockets and Snappis, oh my!” It just fit what I was thinking and feeling at the time! Then as things grew, I titled my Facebook page the same way.

When I purchased my domain a year ago, I really waffled on what it should be. I went back & forth and finally settled on change-diapers (changediapers was taken) so it would be similar to the blogspot address.

Over the past year, I’ve noticed quite a bit of traffic coming from people searching “Fitteds and Pockets and Snappis, oh my!” Clearly people were remembering that, but not the web address. I realize now that your website and blog name should really be the same! Since leaving that “-” out of the address means you’d never find me, I didn’t want to just call the blog “Change Diapers” either, so I figure calling it “change dash diapers dot com” will give me the best chance for people to actually make it here!

Unfortunately, you can’t change the name of your Facebook page. This means that in order to “tag” me, you have to type @Fitteds and Pockets…etc. and again, it’s just confusing since it doesn’t match the domain. I did create a new one under “Change-Diapers.com” but oh boy. I have over 1,200 Facebook “likers.” I know not everyone will follow me over to the new page, and I hate to start over, nor do I want to post everything two places!

I will always be “Fitteds and Pockets and Snappis, oh my!” which is why it’s still in my header, but it sure is a mouthful, and I’m afraid it is too confusing since it doesn’t match the domain.

So that’s the story, in case anyone wondered!

Thanks! 🙂 The Facebook thing is so silly, sheesh. Why can’t I change the name? Of course, I used my fabulous facebook.com/ChangeDiapers on the old page, so I had to go with /ChangeDiapersBlog. Hope people can remember that!! 🙂

Well, everyone that has followed you for a while shouldn’t be thrown off by your facebook still being fitted, pockets, snappis. I like the change and I like what you are doing to “change” diapers.

That was supposed to be my cute little pun when I started the blog. Because I’m “changing” diapers in more ways than one. Har de har. I’m so punny. 😉
