Change-Diapers Reviews Wink Diapers

Change-Diapers received product at no cost for review purposes. We were not otherwise compensated for this post and all opinions are our own. Wink Diapers is a new brand as of 2014. They offer affordable one-size and mini one-size covers, hemp or rayon from bamboo inserts and more. I received a one-size cover as well as hemp and rayon from bamboo inserts.

Products are made in China but Wink Diapers notes: “We only partner with manufacturers that utilize fair trade practices, including minimum wages, safe working environments, and environmental sustainability such as the prohibition of GMO’s. All our fabrics are certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and the CPSIA.

The one-size covers have a familiar look with rise snaps to fit babies 8-35 pounds, snap closures with overlap and double gussets.

Wink sent me a hemp insert which is 3 layers of 55% hemp, 45% organic cotton. The finished size is approximately 11.5″ x 5″ so it makes a great booster, or an insert for a smaller baby.

After prep, the hemp insert rippled at the edges, which is typical when combining two materials (jersey and fleece) and is not the fault of Wink.

I also received a 4-layer viscose from bamboo insert. The website calls these “100% bamboo terry” and refers to the fabric as “naturally antimicrobial.” I do want to point out the FTC’s stance on “bamboo.” Fiber created from bamboo cellulose is rayon and the FTC wants these materials labeled as such. They also advise against any claims that the finished fabrics retain the bamboo plant’s antimicrobial properties. I am sure many of my readers are aware of this but I want to make it clear. Wink Diapers wasn’t aware as this is how the material was advertised by the manufacturer. They are working on getting this information corrected on their website.

Here’s the small rise setting:

Here’s my son at 2 3/4 and around 27 lbs in the medium rise setting:

I used both inserts together as one alone wasn’t quite enough for him. Katie also used the cover & inserts on her 22 lb 5 month old. Katie felt the cover had a bit of a bigger fit than others she’s used, and was able to bump her son down to the small rise setting, despite using the middle rise on others.

Katie was pleased with the fit around his chunky legs and was able to use both inserts together overnight successfully. The back elastic contains messes quite well.

One-size covers retail for $11.99 each and inserts for $5.99 each. Shop Wink Diapers, “like” Wink Diapers on Facebook and follow @WinkDiapers on Twitter.

I actually have a diaper from this company, and have chatted back and fourth with the owner/admin of their facebook group. We LOVE our diaper and the people were super friendly while chatting and helpful with their customer service through email. I am not worried about their material labeled the way it was since this is what they were told when buying it…It doesn’t make the diaper any less awesome in my opinion. It was so soft and comfy compared to other diapers I have…..And we have a pretty big stash! My baby is 1 year old and 20 lbs, he is short with chunky legs and these diapers fit perfectly 🙂

The fact that the owner didn’t knoW about the bamboo/rayon thing concerns me about this brand. I know and I’ve only been cloth diapering for 2 months. To me that says they were out to make a buck, not to make the best diapers. Looks like a typical Chinese pick and choose diaper. I’m not saying I’m not going to enter the contest cause I’m on a budget, but, ideally if I had unlimited income Id be wary of buying from them.
