Mailbox Mondays is cloth diaper advice time. Each Monday, I answer a reader submitted question, and ask my readers to weigh in with their thoughts!

Questions don’t have to be cloth diaper related, just email maria at change-diapers.com with “Mailbox Mondays” in the subject, or fill out my contact form for readers, which you will always be able to find on my Contact Page.

Stephanie says:

When you switched to cloth diapers, we’re there ever moments that you wanted to go back to sposies? Has there ever been a super ick moment that still makes you cringe thinking about it?

Ha ha, yes. Well…sort of. There have been moments that I sure wished I could just ball that puppy up and throw it away. Namely after my son has gone on raisin, mandarin orange or fruit juice binges! Earlier this year, we all passed around a stomach virus, and there were a few diapers that were rough on my sensitive, newly pregnant stomach!

Still, though I sure did wish I could just make those dirty diapers disappear, any thought of sposies was fleeting. Why? Because if any number of those messes happened in disposables, I would have been throwing away the diaper, but washing pants, shirts, socks, shoes, car seat covers, hair…you get my drift. There was no way the ick would have been contained!!

Have you ever had a cringe-worthy moment with cloth? Did it make you want to switch back to disposables?

Ugh, this morning! My 22mo hadn’t gone for 2 days, so we had a build-up of everything coupled with a large bowl of corn he ate yesterday. There was so much it oozed out of the leg holes of his FuzziBunz onto the insides of his fuzzy footie pajamas.

I’d have to say the exact same foods in poop form made me want to barf, especially now, with my extra sensitive preggo nose! And to tell you the truth, prefolds plus mandarin oranges was so bad for me, I quit giving my kids mandarin oranges altogether! o.0 I know, that’s kind of unfair, but wow, it was bad. Half-chewed grapes are pretty disgusting too.

Yes, there’s nothing like seeing a ton of raisins turned back into grapes in your little one’s diaper… unless of course they also had something like blue frosting or brightly tinted ice cream. Yuck!

Ha ha ha! You reminded me of a time this summer…we were outside playing. DH went in to change DS’s diaper and I stayed outside with DD. He calls out to me “uuhhh…you said he had cake today? What color was the icing?” The um, “deposit” in the diaper was bright green, LOL.

Golden raisins seem to be the worst for appearing re-hydrated and un-chewed, LOL.

Many years ago a potty training child of mine had some bright blue ice cream courtesy of a visit from Gram & Grampa. The next time that child pooped in the potty, I kid you not the ‘snake’ had bright blue stripes on it. Too weird.
