I was wondering, what is the best diaper bag for cloth diapers? How about for 2 in cloth? My current (JJ Cole brand) bag is falling apart, but with a new baby on the way, I’d rather not spend $150 on a high-end one! Thanks!

Shelley

Hi Shelley! I stopped carrying a diaper bag after my first child. I have a slightly large purse that’s big enough for hand wipes and a few other things. One side was big enough for a couple disposable diapers & a wipes pouch, but when I switched to cloth 2 1/2 years ago, I needed something new!

So, I actually use my purse for the necessities I need to drag around, then I use a Planet Wise wet/dry bag for diapers. I leave it in the car, unless I think I will be somewhere long enough to need to change a diaper. I can fit a good 6ish diapers in it, so it’s great for 1 child, but I might need to think about a new solution if my older son doesn’t potty train soon, since I have a second in diapers now too!

If you need to bring things all together for a babysitter, daycare, or you just find it more convenient to have everything together, most diaper bags won’t work. Especially not for cloth diapers for two children! In fact, it seems that a large tote bag, messenger bag or backpack will work better than a traditional diaper bag.

I love how this diaper bag from Land’s End expands. It has an area for wet items, mesh pockets to keep you organized, and a front pocket for your stuff like keys & wallet. Best of all, it’s $40, far less than a lot of bags! I haven’t used one, but if I needed a diaper bag (like for a trip when a bunch of bags wouldn’t be practical) I think this one would be great for cloth!

I’ve heard Skip Hop mentioned, and their diaper bags look quite large! Diaper Dude has some really nice, large bags, though some are rather pricey!

If you’re looking for something to mostly hold diapers, and maybe just 1 or two things for you, the Planet Wise swim/diaper bag is awesome.

Since I haven’t actually used a traditional diaper bag for cloth diapers, I’m going to defer to my readers.

Do you have a great, cloth diaper friendly diaper bag? If you don’t use a diaper bag, what do you use?

I love Brook Van Gory diapers bags!! YOu can choose your fabric and she handmakes them. She also has a wetbag that hooks on to the outside of the bag so you can put dirty diapers or any wet clothing in it. That way you don;ttake up room in your diaper bag with a wet bag and used diapers!! I love it I had the Expedient but there is and Upsized Expedient for thoes with 2 in cloth. I can’t say enough about her bags . They are awesome and love that I am helping out a WAHM. 🙂

I only have one child right now and use all pocket diapers. I have two diaper bags. The one I use for going out every day is the SkipHop Duo Deluxe. I can fit about 4 daipers, a wet bag, a change of clothes, a wipes case and a bottle of wipes solution, a few books, and my wallet in it. It’s great for everyday use, running to the store, etc. If I’m going out all day or on vacation I have the Kalencom Weekender bag. I LOVE THIS BAG! It’s stylish and comes with an accessories bag that I store my personal stuff in. It also comes with an insulated bottle bag, which I never used and subsequently lost. It also has tons of pockets for organization. My hope is that this bag will be great for if I ever have two in cloth. It is rather large, but I think that’s the price you have to pay sometimes when you use cloth diapers.

I’m still on the hunt – every diaper bag has something nice about it, and about everything else bad about it. Most people who are successful seem to have one decent bag for just the necessities, then keep extras in the car (diapers, clothes, etc.).

I just wanted to add that I had that Do It All by Lands End and it was THE WORST ONE I’VE TRIED EVER. It’s unbearably big, doesn’t fit anywear, is impossible to carry while holding/wearing/pushing a baby or baby carrier. If it had been 2 inches less wide, it might have worked, but really, it was just a horrible experience all around. It is an actual small suitcase size. Even with my two in cloth, it was horrible.

When my son was first born we used disposables, but my mom had gotten us a really roomy diaper bag from Vera Bradley. Don’t know how you all feel about Vera Bradley and her patterns, but you could check into those too! Ours held 10 disposables, a Kirkland thing of wipes, extra clothes, baby toys, diaper cream, lotion for his eczema, our extra infant tylenol and mylicon (gas drops), a light receiving blanket, a heavier blanket for chillier evenings or to use to play on the floor, etc., etc. I think it would totally handle a good number of cloth diapers, wipes, a wetbag, and still have room for a change of clothes “just in case.” 🙂
