For a Pregnant Chick, I Sure Have an Interesting “Night Life”

In fact, just Friday night I was hobnobbing with Prince William & Princess whats-her-face. I don’t recall what was said, but apparently they found me quite fascinating.

OK, so this happened in my dream world, in between tossing & turning, sweating, scratching my itchy pregnant skin, and numerous bathroom trips. I tend to have wacky dreams, but hello pregnancy hormones. I have some of the most vivid, realistic (and strange) dreams ever.

So realistic in fact that one night I woke up and nearly clobbered my hubby. I was awake for several minutes and it still seemed real, and I gave him the hairy eyeball the rest of the day!

One of the weirdest dreams I had was a recurring dream I had when I was pregnant with my son. I would suddenly go from being pregnant to having a baby, but I didn’t have anything I needed. I had to try to get to the store without a car seat to get the things I needed. I’d walk to the store carrying the baby, and when I got there, I’d realize I wasn’t wearing any shoes. Just as I found the things I needed, the baby would turn into a shoe, and I’d try to slink out of store unnoticed, carrying the shoe. That dream stopped once we got the car seat installed and got a few other things ready. So, the significance of that one is fairly clear…except for the shoe part. I guess I need to Google the meaning of shoe dreams!

I also had a lot of dreams where I’d had the baby and a lot of people were visiting. I’d go hours without seeing the baby & find out someone gave it a bottle and I’d get all furious George about it. I also couldn’t seem to remember the baby’s name or whether it was a boy or a girl. My friend thinks that we’re our own best dream interpreters, and she’s right. I’m pretty sure that was me expressing my concerns over unwanted visitors and meddling family.

I’ve had a “surprise, it’s twins!” dream this pregnancy, and when I tweeted about it, @Momofthreeunder replied that she’d had the same dream…then had them about 2 years later. *gulp*

So am I alone here? Do you have weird dreams (pregnancy induced or not?) Care to share any particularly interesting ones?

funny you should mention strange dreams! Last night I couldn’t fall asleep and I had a dream that I just visited my brother-in-law and his wife who just had a baby. They both had lost all this weight and they were telling me how if I got pregnant one more time, after the baby it would be super easy to lose the weight. Although I woke up before I learned the weight loss secret! LOL

OMG every night I have these epic, complicated dreams. A couple nights ago I dreamed my brother came home from Afganistan (he is not a solider but he was in the dream) and we had a big party for him but he was embarassed by the attention. Last night I had a scary dream about the baby coming early and no one would tell me if he was okay– I swear that dream was hours long and it really shook me up.

I had a pregnancy dream that I had a baby boy (we chose to let the gender be a surprise) and I was showing him off to all the friends and relatives. Someone asked me what his name was, and I had an OH CRAP moment, because I’d totally forgotten to name the baby!

Funny thing is, this almost came true. My husband and I agreed on a boy name literally one minute before my son was born! He didn’t even get a middle name until a couple days later. If we ever have another boy, I’m not sure what we’re going to do! 😛

LOL! My son was nearly nameless too. We never really found a boy name we liked for DD (we do gender surprises) and I’m starting to freak out that this baby will be “boy” if it’s a boy! DH hates everything & he is no help coming up with names!!

LOL no I tend to have the strangest dreams when preggo. There was the one where I gave birth to a kitten and no one noticed but me. One where I was on a plane and we for some reason had to land on the highway and drive to the airport but when we hit the ground instead of oxygen masks falling from the ceiling there were cheese wheels and sausages (like in a butcher shop). Ive had dreams that I was on strange water slides, giving birth in a room full of other people giving birth (think like group marriage except we were all giving birth instead). I agree there was always some reason behind my dreams and that I always figured out what they meant in time. Also isnt it wierd that normally its so hard to remember dreams but pregnant dreams you remember not just after you wake up but for a while after 🙂

This time I had ones about famous football players early on in pregnancy, and then ‘scary’ ones where people I loved where hurt or hurting later. During my first pregnancy I dreamed I was miscarrying. Scared the hell out of me.

Scary ones are THE WORST because they’re SO real!!
