I’m always on the lookout for new fluoride-free toothpaste. We’ve used Jason Kids Only, Weleda tooth gel, and most often, Tom’s of Maine silly strawberry. I generally order the toothpaste online since it’s hard to find the fluoride free version in stores (and I’ve accidentally purchased the fluoride formula, since the tubes look very similar.)
Green Team is now distributing Jack N’ Jill products, so they are becoming easy to find at natural baby retailers. I bought a tube of the natural calendula toothpaste, and a hippo bio toothbrush.
I purchased the blueberry toothpaste which is rated a zero on the EWG’s database and contains no sugar, fluoride, preservatives, SLS or colors. The toothpaste is safe for little ones to swallow and contains Xylitol, Purified Water, Vegetable Glycerin (from coconut), Silica, Certified Organic Natural Flavor, Xanthan Gum & Certified Organic Calendula Officinalis Extract. Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol that serves as a sweetener, and inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause cavities. Note: Xylitol is highly toxic to dogs. Keep out of reach of your furry friends.
I had a little trouble getting the seal off the tube! The toothpaste is a clear gel that is thick enough not to run off the brush, and it is sweet and tasty. It’s a bit on the pricey side with an MSRP of $6.99 for the small 1 3/4 ounce tube.
The bio toothbrush has a handle made of 100% corn starch, which will break down within 90 days in a commercial compost (break off the brush head first.)
The toothbrushes are available with a bunny or hippo, and have a soft brush head.
The shape of the toothbrush is perfect for little hands to hold.
Toothbrushes retail invidually for $4.99 each.

I like the flavor option of blueberry it’s hard to find anything other than strawberry. Where are these available to purchase?

I agree that it is hard to find a toothpaste that is safe for the little ones. I like that this toothpaste is safe to swallow because they usually do! We currently use Tom’s of Maine and I would like to give this Jack N’ Jill toothpaste a try.

Thanks for the reminder! As I was trying this product, TWO Facebook friends had/posted about this issue. One, her dog was fine after an overnight stay at the vet, the other wasn’t so lucky. There was even an article in our local paper about it. I intended to mention that in this post but I didn’t make myself a note & forgot. I just added it, thanks!
