pHresh Natural Deodorant Review

PHresh natural deodorant via @chgdiapers

I received the pictured product at no cost for review purposes. Anti-perspirant/deodorant has been one of the most difficult products for me to switch over to “all natural.” After so many years of using the chemical-laden products, I know I need to just stop using them cold turkey and switch them over, but the adjustment period can be hard!

Though pHresh deodorant isn’t an anti-perspirant, it isn’t just a fancy perfume. It contains ingredients to moisturize skin, absorb moisture and kill odor causing bacteria. It does not contain propolyne glycol, petroleum, aluminum or chemicals. It’s also gentle and won’t irritate your skin.

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis, Propanediol (Corn-based skin moisturizer that binds other ingredients together), Zea Mays Starch (Maize-derived skin protectant that absorbs moisture), Sodium Stearate (Coconut and palm oils that clean and freshen skin), Silica (Minerals that absorb moisture and sweat), Saccharomyces Ferment (Plant juice that absorbs moisture and kills odor-causing bacteria), Stearyl Behenate (Plant acid that conditions and moisturizes skin), Carrageenan (Vegan alternative to gelatin that helps bind ingredients together), Lycium Barbarum (Fruit extract that acts as both astringent and skin conditioner), Glycerin, Lauryl Laurate (Plant based oil that conditions and moisturizes skin), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Plant-based essential oils that provide natural fragrance), Leuconostoc (Radish root extract serves as an antifungal and antimicrobial agent.)

I received the Creme Brulee scent, which smells just like it sounds. Lightly sweet and pleasant. (I’d love to try the Barely Sweet scent as well.) You can also choose unscented. When I first put it on, it felt slightly sticky, but just for a few minutes as it dried. This may be “TMI” but I am a bit sweaty by nature. I spent the first week using PHresh sniffing myself a lot, ha ha. I found I needed to reapply the deodorant somewhat often, but I never felt like I was stinky. The longer I used it, the better I felt it worked. I think there is some truth to the advice that you need to allow your body to get used to not having the aluminum and chemicals every day. I think that finding a natural deodorant that works for you can be a bit of trial and error, but this one is definitely worth a try!

I have been using Agent Nateur. It’s costly but the woman who makes it just found a lab that won’t alter her formula so she doesn’t have to make it from home now. She is coming out with a larger bottle soon though.

I’ve tried Tom’s and Nubien Herutage which both caused intense pain and even blistering. I’ve tried to go without deodorant but, despite taking showers every day, the smell got worse and worse and then, when I put on deodorant of any brand (even clinical strength dove), it took several days to finally stop being smelly. Agent Nateur is all natural with minimal ingredients and essential oils. You just have to be careful because it’s not completely solid. I leave mine in the fridge so that it becomes more solid.

I have only tried one natural deodorant so far, but was not a fan of the brand. I’m still using it because I refuse to throw away money. I’ll have to give pHresh a try, especially the sugar mint.

I have tried about 10 different natural deodorants and they all make my underarms peel and turn red. When I got pregnant with my first son, I gave up wearing deodorant because I rarely sweat anyway and I worked in an office that kept the air at like 55 degrees year round. Since then, I only wear deodorant when I’m going out some place special, this is maybe once a month. Even on days that I get really sweaty, digging in the garden, or working out, I find I don’t smell anyway. But I still would love to find a natural deodorant, so I could eliminate using the ones with toxic chemicals in them altogether.

My fingers are crossed on this one. I have been allergic to antiperspirant for a long time. I have tried just about everything under the sun. I am excited to see that there is a new deodorant 🙂 It has been quite some time since someone has come out with something new. Even if I do not win this, I do plan on buying some to try! Do your homework on the dangers of aluminum in antiperspirant ladies!

I noticed when I stopped using anti-perspirant and didn’t use decide rant that my armpits were less prone to sweating and stink. I rarely use anything now. Perhaps you could try that one Winter month? 🙂

I’ve heard others say that too Trisha! I need to get brave & just try it. 😉 I’ve noticed that I’ve been sweating a lot less in the month since I started using pHresh. That definitely wasn’t true at first though. 🙂

Wow! Auto-correct sure did a number on my typing. I said deodorant, not decide rant. LOL

I am currently on the hunt for a natural deodorant. I started using a natural deodorant recently (one in a jar) and something in it irritated me and made my skin peel, I don’t want to switch back to mainstream deo, so I am going to look into tryng Phresh (I love that it’s in a tube)

I also like that it goes on just like regular deodorant! 🙂
