Rumparooz Lil Joey Newborn Cloth Diaper Review

Rumparooz Lil Joeys 1 2 diapers

Rumparooz Lil Joeys are eeny-teeny, snap closure AIO newborn diapers. They are sold in 2-packs for $29.95. Most retailers sell them in packs of 2 of the same color, but Diaper Junction (affiliate link) allows you to choose two different colors.

It was hard to choose from 12 colors and 6 prints, but I chose lazy lime and platinum.

Rumparooz Lil Joeys 5 back

These are some of the tiniest newborn diapers I have seen, plus they have an umbilical cord snap down. I’d expect them to fit all but the smallest babies. They are estimated to fit from preemie/4 lbs up to 6 months/12 lbs.

They are smaller than even the smallest setting of the Rumparooz one-size diapers.

The umbilical cord snap down can of course be used unsnapped as well!

Rumparooz Lil Joeys 10 soft inner with gussetsRumparooz Lil Joeys 11 narrow to fit tiny babies

The inner is super soft, with the same gussets the one-size has. It’s much narrower to fit tiny babies without added bulk.

The sewn in soaker does make the diaper a bit on the fluffy side!

Here are the measurements (folded and stretched with the snap down snapped and unsnapped):

It even fits around his tiny chicken legs.

Naturally, my model isn’t a heavy wetter, so I can’t speak on the absorbency. I actually think this would be a great diaper for the newborn baby photo ops. There are so many colors available and they are just so.darn.cute. At under $15 each, they’re also not the most expensive newborn diapers out there. See this on my newborn.

The problem must have been the wash routine used to clean them! Don’t use soaps that leave residue an wash at least 3 to 4 times before using and you should be fine! Also it help doing an extra rinse so no buildup of detergent occur! Also no softener should be used on diapers because it makes them waterproof! Which you don’t want!

No, they just leak! I don’t think they are absorbent enough. They seem to leak for almost everyone who uses them, no matter how they wash!

I agree I wanted to try these but it seems like only a select few have luck with them. I always assumed people didn’t change the babies often enough? But I don’t want to take the chance. I saw good things about the Gro-vai NB AIO and they are tiny too and seem to have mostly all good reviews.

Well I might order 2 of these anyway- my baby is coming in 3 weeks!

They are SO CUTE and fit tiny babies so well. But I think they really only work in those very early stages when their output is minimal and they are dirtying diapers too fast to soak them. My milk came in really quickly & my son was a way heavy wetter from the beginning. As in, he was soaking full size inserts as soon as he fit in o/s without leg gap! It was a real conundrum since he was tiny (and needed the cord snap down at first) but peed way too much for tiny diapers!

I know I want to try these so bad for my next baby on the way, but I have not heard one good review I don’t think. I’m really looking hard to find a good NB diaper. I was thinking about the Grovia’s NB anyone tried them?

I tried these on my 8-pound, 6-ouncer when he came home from the hospital. He managed to pee out of them every single time. I don’t know if it was lack of absorbency or he was just too big for them but I finally gave up on them after a couple of weeks of getting soaked. They are adorable but just did not work for us.

Where were they leaking from, do you recall?

Was it snapped down or unsnapped? I wondered if it would wick when it was snapped down. How long did it last before it leaked? (Sorry for all the questions, LOL.)

Haha, no problem, I’m happy to help! They would leak whether snapped or unsnapped. I originally thought that snapping them down was causing the rise to be too low so I unsnapped them – didn’t help. It was less than an hour before they would leak. A couple of times it happened immediately after I got the diaper on him.

That is just so weird (I can’t reply again to your most recent reply, LOL) I’ve seen lots of people say they leak but not how or when. There’s no way a newb could be soaking the insert that fast, especially with as thick as they are! It makes me think there’s some problem with how they are sewn or something?

I know this is late, but after looking at the construction of the diaper and the obvious small amount of weight of a newborn I have to say that I attribute the leading to the fact that the baby doesn’t weigh enough to put sufficient amount of pressure on the microfleece to help pass the urine through to the microfiber. Those types of material (especially the thicker microfleece that Kanga uses) requires pressure otherwise the liquid will rest on the top of the material, pool and roll off. Being that newborns are so small and weigh so little in comparison to bigger infants or toddlers this seems to be a recipe for disaster. The nice, thicker microfleece that Kanga uses works against them in this situation as well. Because the fleece is thicker it requires just that much more pressure to get the liquid through and onto the absorbent microfiber inner. I suspect that if this diaper was made exactly the same but the liner was bamboo and the absorbent layer was either cotton or bamboo that leaks wouldn’t be an issue, unless the diaper was left on to the point of oversaturation.

I really wanted to try these and add them to my “must have” list. But I have to say 80 percent of the reviews I’ve read say they leak leak leak. And I’ve read a lot of reviews about them. I don’t think I’ll be trying them unless someone gives me one. Sad cause they are super cute!!

I’ve heard that too. They must wick at the legs or snap down?? The soaker is thick and the leg openings are tiny so it seems weird that they’d leak!

I’d love to buy a few of these the next time we have a little newborn. I<3 the look of these. I have 6 kissaluvs newborn fitted diapers, but those aren't AIO.
