Seventh Generation – A Great Alternative to “Mainstream” Cleaning Products – Review

IMG_6574

I’m sure most of you have heard of 7th Generation. You may even have been around a year ago when I posted about the disinfecting wipes & detergent I bought. I know some families clean with baking soda & vinegar alone, but some people (like me) are still in the process of “greening” their households, and can’t quite let go of traditional cleaning products yet.

What I find most notable about Seventh Generation is their commitment to transparency about their ingredients. Ingredients are listed on their packaging, and material safety data sheets are available in plain view on their website. No need to go hunting for them.

I received a variety of their household products to try, including:

wood cleaner

dishwasher tabs

dish liquid

laundry detergent pacs

and hand soap.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I take tons of photos of products I review, even household and personal care products. This package arrived just as I was preparing for a visit from my in-laws, and realized that I was completely out of dishwasher detergent and hand soap! Last time they visited, I ran out of dish soap!! I quickly tore into the products and didn’t get my usual photos, and I apologize for that.

In my haste, I actually washed our dishes with a laundry detergent pod, oopsie! Unfortunately, I didn’t realize until I went to grab another one, and the dishes I’d washed had long since been used. Fortunately, it got them clean and didn’t get anyone sick! Both the dishwasher pacs and the laundry detergent pacs (LOL) got our dishes clean. The only thing I don’t like about the dishwasher pacs is that I can’t break them in half, which I normally do with the dish “bricks” since we have a water softener and central filter, and typically don’t need a full “serving” of soap.

The lemon chamomile wood cleaner smells amazing, as does the lavender hand soap (no triclosan) and dish liquid.

Seventh Generation is committed “To inspire a revolution that nurtures the health of the next seven generations” and is dedicated to the environment. I encourage you to browse the “our mission” area of their website, and view their products to read ingredients and determine what’s right for your family.

All of the products I’ve tried have worked as well as their mainstream counterparts, and they are readily available at retailers!

You can find 7th Generation on Facebook and Twitter.

I can totally relate to needing really use something you were reviewing and by the time you realized what you were doing – no time to take photos.
