Silikids Siliskin Glass Kids Cups Review & Giveaway (7/3) U.S. & Canada

I received a product at no cost for review purposes. I was not otherwise compensated for this post, and all opinions are my own. Silikids popped onto my radar when I saw their Siliskin top, which is a stretchy silicone piece that slips over a glass, plastic or metal cup, to turn it into a sippy.

They have several other silicone products, including the Siliskin glasses and Siliskin sippy I received. The packaging is minimal and very cool. Even my husband commented on it. We recycled it, but it would also make good craft material!

Silicone isn’t porous, so it won’t hold on to odors or bacteria. It’s also heat resistant (dishwasher safe) and durable.

I’ve read a few things recently about how “BPA free” plastics may not be as safe as we think, so I’ve made an effort to use more glass.

This message on the sippy cup’s packaging made me say “hmm” and they’re right.

With the glass sippy, you have to remember that your child (18 months+) should use this with supervision, while seated.

The Siliskin sippy cup is an 8 oz glass with a silicone sleeve and a crevice-free silicone top that slips over the glass.

We don’t use a lot of sippy cups, but I prefer that my son have a top if he is drinking milk or juice. Not necessarily because he spills, but because he’s in that “let me dump this out and see what happens” stage!

He can get the top off himself, but it buys me some extra time to notice and stop him. 🙂

My 5 year old uses regular glasses, and has since he was 3. However even now, they are a bit too big for his little hands, and I worry about one breaking if he knocked it over or set it down too hard on the granite counters.

I have seen glasses with a silicone sleeve (like the water bottles I use) but wondered how effective they would be for kids.

I love the Silikids cups! The sleeve has been designed to provide shock absorption and the bottom of the sleeve gives protection where it’s needed.

The sleeve has nubs and raised areas both to provide an easy grip, and to protect the glass from bumps. Like the sippy, the glasses should be used with adult supervision since they aren’t completely resistant to breaks (they are glass after all!)

Even my 9 year old loved them, and the 6 ounce size is perfect for kids. The design is modern and stylish rather than “baby-like” so I can see using these until our kids are old enough for grown up glasses.

Silikids products can be recycled (or pass them along to a friend – they are very durable!) If you can’t find a facility near you, you can even send them back to the company for recycling.
