Some of my Favorite Affiliate Programs for Bloggers

Affiliate Programs for Bloggers

For a long time, I was afraid of using affiliate links. I gradually signed up for some affiliate accounts, but just hid them on my shop page. I’ve been blogging for 3 1/2 4 1/2 6 years now, and have been asked for advice on starting a blog quite often, so I am going to share some of the best/my favorite affiliate programs. Links are, of course, of the affiliate variety!

I like affiliate programs for bloggers that make it easy to find links & banners (Shareasale is my favorite), that offer a decent cookie length (in case someone clicks but waits to buy), and offers good sales/specials (but doesn’t email me constantly!) I love that I have just discovered several affiliate programs that offer bonuses for getting active by posting banners or blog posts, and a few that offer bonuses for referring new affiliates.

So without further adieu, here are some of my favorite affiliate programs (some of these are affiliate links in that, if you click & sign up as an affiliate, I receive a bonus)

It was not that way when I signed up. Maybe they recently changed it? Try signing up & see.

I think this is awesome! I wish I had the know how to be a ‘blogger’ as I am a stay at home mom (no income) and with 2 little ones and another on the way, I could still enjoy the ‘ luxury and fun’ stuff to from affiliates. My kids (mommy really) would get so spoiled!

    Hi Maria!
Thanks for posting! I was looking for ways to help fund our blog 🙂
I tried the Amazon one – it won’t allow residents of Illinois to become affiliates.
    Any idea why that is?

Hi Kate! Some states have rules that state that having affiliates in their state makes these big corporations on the hook for sales tax (they say it means they have a presence in that state) so they pull out of affiliate marketing in that state entirely. Stinky, huh?

I dont really ‘get’ how any of this works. You get $ when someone clicks or when someone buys? I don’t want to alienate anyone. I used to do pay per post but they went to crud and only had a few options (like plumbing in san diego!) and then you had it up for a month and voila, they didn’t pay you for it, and wouldn’t tell you why.

I think Social spark grew out of that, and I’d love to do it again, but I’m afraid of not getting paid. I want my blog to stay personal, but if I got a little nugget here or there just for sharing something I actually like (like a book for my kids) or a diaper or something, then I wouldn’t mind that.
    Thoughts?

I don’t do too much w/Social Spark anymore, but I have gotten a few great ones. Mostly, you are paid when someone buys. Some of the above are favorites because they will pay for getting active via a banner and/or quick post.

The way I see it, if you don’t want to read the post, don’t. If you do, great! If you buy, even better. But I’m not going to push or sell. I always try to make sure that affiliate-type posts aren’t outnumbering the good stuff! 🙂
