I’ve been cloth diapering for 5 years, blogging for 5 years, and I’m celebrating by giving you some amazing diapers! (P.S. did you know I have been compiling the cloth diaper giveaway roundup since 2010?)
If you’ve been around a while, you’ve heard this story many times. I wanted to try cloth with my now 9 1/2 year old but the products and information available then were very different. Without the support/cloth diaper 101 that’s so easy to find now, I chickened out. In 2008 I researched & decided to use Bumgenius pocket diapers on my son, who I was expecting the following spring. As I ordered baby things and prepared to place my order, I ended up deciding that special, expensive cloth diaper detergent wouldn’t fit into our budget, and I certainly didn’t want to ruin the diapers by using anything else.
Long story short (too late) my son’s rashes from disposable diapers were so terrible, I went ahead and ordered 3 Bumgenius 3.0 diapers (Grasshopper, Butternut and Twilight) in October 2009, and started the hunt for detergent. That’s another long story for another day but just a few days later, when I saw that my son’s rashes disappeared with cloth, I ordered 3 more diapers (Moonbeam, Ribbit & Clementine.)
A month later, I started this blog in hopes of helping other families that were as befuddled as I was in doing all my research and switching from cloth to disposable diapers. My cloth diaper reviews quickly became very photo heavy after being pretty surprised at what diapers looked like and how they functioned vs. the stock photos. Since I didn’t have a local cloth diaper retailer and knew many others didn’t either, I wanted a consumer to be able to look at my posts and know exactly what they’d get. I intentionally moved towards more objective reviews as I realized that each family and baby is different, and there is no one “best diaper.”
From those 6 diapers (most of which I still have and use) came my dream job, this blog, and so many amazing friends. In my 5 years of cloth diapering (and blogging), I’ve seen trends, new products, new brands and I’m excited to see what the next 5 years bring.
When I purchased my first 6 Bumgenius, color choices included those I purchased, plus Blossom, Zinnia and white (if I remember correctly!) They were 3.0s and were only available in hook & loop. Today the 4.0 is available in snaps, a slew of beautiful colors and prints, and are made in the USA. Astonishingly, you can still get a solid 4.0 for the same price as 2009 – $17.95.
Since my stash began with 6 Bumgenius pockets, I found it fitting to celebrate 5 years of cloth diapering & 5 years of blogging by giving away 6 Bumgenius diapers. Lucky for you they are 4.0s, in snap, and in some rather hard to find prints!

Wow, I remember being so confused when starting to figure out cloth diapers and really only got into it because a friend brought her stash over one day and walked me through everything (and loaned me a bunch of diapers to try!) I can’t imagine doing it many years ago when so fewer people were & info was much more scarce. Great work figuring it all out!
