Boba 3G Compared to Original Boba Carrier

I love my Boba Wrap (which was Sleepy Wrap way back then!) that I bought in 2009, before my second child was born, and several months before I started this blog! More than two years ago (wow!) I posted my Boba Baby Carrier review. The text/photo alignment is all wonky since it was a post that was transferred over from my old blogspot address, my apologies for that! I like to think of my original carrier as the “OB”, you know, “original boba” like “OG” (original gangsta’ ha ha.) I was so blessed to get to do a Boba 3G carrier review on Outnumbered 3 to 1, and I thought some of you might be curious about the differences in the carriers, as I was!

The brown carrier is the original and the gray is the 3G!

The overall fit and structure of the carrier is the same, but the 3G has some great new “bells and whistles.”

The foot straps set the Boba apart from many other soft structured carriers (SSCs), and the 3G still has them.

However, they attach and adjust differently than the original, using snaps now.

The 3G also has a patch waist pocket and small zippered waist pocket, as well as a larger zippered pocket for storage/hood storage.

There is a small area on the 3G where the straps meet the body that is unpadded fabric, offering a bit more flexibility. It also has a great purse strap on the shoulder area of each arm strap. I love this! Just snap it around your bag’s strap, and you don’t have to keep hoisting it back up!

The other big difference is that the 3G has the “newborn snap,” which allows you to shorten the body to use the carrier for little babies, without purchasing anything else. You simply snap the waist band up and reverse the buckle. There is a strap tucked in the hood pocket that you can use to provide additional head support for baby.

Here is my friend with her sweet girl, who was about 12 weeks old, and just under 12 pounds at the time I took the photos:
