How I Met My Husband!

I haven’t done much blogging in a while, and a large part of that is that my kids are now older, and I haven’t been able to find a contributor who was consistent. The bigger part of that is that I went through a divorce. Having met my ex-husband at age 17 and married at 19, I hadn’t dated in a very long time, and the idea was scary.

My cousin encouraged me to try Bumble, which is a dating app where both men and women can swipe right, but only women can initiate the conversation. I signed up, and hesitantly got to swiping. I had only been on the app for a day, and had made it a “rule” not to swipe right on anyone who didn’t have something of substance in their profile. But then, there he was…

Nothing but Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics (this is an actual screen shot of his profile – taking screenshots and sending them to your friends is part of online dating doncha know). I love music, love RHCP, and love Soul to Squeeze. “Rules” be darned, I had to talk to the man who had these lyrics as his profile. I swiped, we matched, and I initiated conversation by asking his what his favorite RHCP song was.

That is a screenshot of our actual conversation, LOL.

We connected with our humor, love of music, and ability to have conversations in the form of song lyrics. We chatted on the app for about a week and a half before meeting for lunch. Long story short, we “dated” for quite a while before finally becoming exclusive on Christmas 2019. We both had a lot to learn about ourselves and were in a good place at that point to commit to each other. If we’d rushed it we may not have made it so I’m grateful for that, even though I was very annoyed not to be the “girlfriend” until then!

When people ask how me met, I don’t feel ashamed to tell them, although I feel like I should?

We ended up going to the courthouse and getting married in October! I am so grateful to be sharing my life with such a wonderful man.

I tweeted at Bumble letting them know and they sent us this awesome bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate.

We bought a house together in December (it’s not weird to be married for 6 weeks before you live together, right? Ha ha) and I bought this custom song lyrics print that had been showing up in my Facebook and Instagram ads forever!

If you’re single, the right person is out there. Be patient, allow yourself to be alone, work on yourself, grow, and when the time is right, things will fall into place. <3
