I’ve survived 3 days of using flats and hand washing them, while standing in front of, beside or over my washer & dryer. The first day wasn’t too bad. After that… Remind me again why I want to do this?
If you’re just “tuning in;” I’m participating in the Second Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. All this week I’ll be using flats and handwashing them. Learn more about the challenge.
On day 1 I was feeling pretty good. I had already done trial runs with the flats, but not hand washing. Did OK with my first dirty diaper, and DH held my son while I rinsed & wrung diapers that evening. They were dry by the morning and ready to go.
Day 2 I wasn’t feeling so confident. I was stressed, tired and wondering why I was doing this.
Day 3 I changed a diaper while out & about, had my first opportunity to hang flats outside (it was raining Monday & Tuesday.)
So now, it’s day 4. Almost halfway done. I really hate to wish any part of my life away, but I won’t be upset when this week is over.
Tomorrow I share what I’ve learned & tips I’ve picked up along the way.

I will say this for line drying… The diapers do look so awesome waving in the breeze!
