I recently heard about Havaianas Sandals (yes, I’ve been under a rock, they’ve been around since 1962), and while I haven’t tried them yet, I am loving their designs! My kids were looking over my shoulder as I was browsing and they each have a favorite.
Although I have a terrible time spelling the company name, I love their social responsibility. Havaianas’ parent company, Alpargatas, employs over 12,000 employees worldwide in operating countries. Alpargatas’ first priority is developing and implementing programs of work safety, occupational health and environmental sustainability. In order to be sustainable, they reduce electricity and water consumption, use sensible development of materials, are launching ecological product lines, recycle rubber and PVC residue, compress non-recyclable residue (and carefully transport it), as well as provide environmental education for employees. 7% of the sales of conservation international sandals are invested in social environment projects in the Brazilian shoreline.
Sandals and shoes for men, women & children start at $16.00, and come in dozens of styles, colors and prints. I love that they are available with thinner straps for a more feminine look, and they come in a huge range of sizes; women’s 5/6 to 11/12, men’s 7/8 to 12, and infant 4/4.5 to big kids 3/4.
Some of my favorite are the Kids Disney, Kids Slim Tinkerbell, Women’s Graffiti and Muppets.
The men’s power style has a sporty look and comfort sole, while the urban premium has a sleek style and leather straps.
Havaianas has a line of bridal footwear (http://us.havaianas.com/bridal/) that’s perfect for a destination/beach wedding, or just a bride that values comfort over heel height! You can also make your own custom sandals (http://us.havaianas.com/myoh.html) in 4 steps by choosing your style, sole, straps and decorations!
