As promised, I am getting back into the swing of some “personal” posts! – Post contains affiliate links to the products I love! I love creative play. Love it when my kids play outside, make up games…I’ve even learned to embrace the messes it involves…sorta.
Open ended play is my favorite. Play silks and dress-up, pretend food, I love it all. Sometimes I just marvel at my kids’ creativity.
As I nursed my 21 month old, my 4 year old rolled down the hallway with his wagon and the hose from my husband’s wet/dry vac. No, I really didn’t think anything of it, he is always playing with wacky stuff, and the vacuum has been one of his favorite toys since before he could walk!
He appeared a minute later and water was dripping out of his wagon. He’d decided that his wagon looked like a mop bucket, and he’d put water in it so he could mop the kitchen floor with his toy mop for me! I asked how in the world he had gotten the water out of the sink.
He very nonchalantly told me…with the hose. Though I wasn’t thrilled about using all my kitchen towels to sop up the water (and we had a talk about asking for help with water etc. but this mess was mild, ha.) it was a proud mama moment for me. How smart of him as a 4-year old to figure out that he could stick the hose on the faucet, plop the other end in his wagon, and get the water from here to there with no problem!
My father-in-law is an engineer with a Ph.D. so maybe it’s in his blood. 🙂
Have your children impressed you with their creativity lately?
LOL! How cute is that? I don’t like the messes too much either but the good news is that it sounds like you’ve got yourself a little helper. Love the links to the toys and will try to remember to go through your links if I order them. 🙂
