When we used disposable diapers, I had diaper pails upstairs and down, and I always made sure to have a clean pail and plenty of diapers & wipes at each changing area. When we switched to cloth, I was antsy to get a similar system set up with cloth. As it turned out, we fell into a different dirty diaper storage system all together.
There are a lot of great options out there, including washable, water resistant liners to use inside a diaper pail or kitchen trash can. Companies like Knickernappies and Fuzzibunz make a “hanging pail” that can go over a door knob. Kanga Care makes a cross between a diaper pail & wet bag, that zips closed and stands on its own when full.
Though I haven’t used one myself, I got to see the GroVia perfect pail at the ABC Kids Expo and I think it’s a fabulous idea! It reminds me of a disposable “diaper stacker.” It has a self closing top, zippered bottom for easy emptying and hangs anywhere.
Since I started my stash with just 3 Bumgenius, (followed by 3 more), I got into the habit of changing pretty much all diapers downstairs where we kept the diapers. It didn’t make sense to bother with a pail since the diapers were always either on my son, in the washer, or drying!
As I gradually built up my stash to the point that I was no longer constantly washing, I bought a pail liner, intending to see if it worked with my old Diaper Dekor pails. By that time, we were so used to just bringing the diapers directly into the laundry room, that I bought a large hanging wet bag and kept it in the laundry room. That method has stuck for 3 1/2 years now, and it’s still working well! My laundry room is just steps away from the kitchen/family room area where I change diapers, as well as the half bath where I clean dirty ones. I have enough diapers now that I do have a small stash upstairs also. Since I only change 1 or 2 upstairs per day (if at all), I just carry the diaper back downstairs with me!
Whatever storage system you decide to use, you still have to figure out where to keep it. Do you store dirties near where you change them (so you can toss & move on), in your bathroom (so you can pitch them in after cleaning them off)? Both? Should you have a pail on each story of your house?
I say, don’t sweat it too much. You can always just use a wet bag until you figure out what would work best for you & your system. Side note, I always pull inserts out of diapers before tossing them in the bag, so I can just dump the whole bag in the washer!
How do you store your dirty diapers? Here’s your hint to find my egg: Hop up to the menu and take a look at the wet bags I’ve reviewed.

We don’t celebrate easter. It is pagan in its roots. Look it up, it’s really called Ishtar by the pagans. And if it had anything to do with Jesus’ resurrection why would it change every year? And what’s with the bunnies and eggs? The bunnies and eggs are centered around easter because the holiday was a celebration of the fertility goddess…. Which is why my husband and I don’t celebrate it in a nutshell.
Also the only time that easter is mentioned in the KJV Bible is in reference to a pagan king celebrating it, in Acts, before he wanted to kill the apostles which were in prison.

I’m expecting my first April 25, so I’d have to say newborn cloth diaper!
BG Elemental
Might try a BG in zinnia or thirsties in orchid.
My little one will still be in my belly this Easter, but I enjoy bright spring colors over pastels.
Quick question, are there any cloth diaper people who live in apartments and have diaper pail suggestions? We have laundry in our building, but not in our apartment?

My daughter has an heirloom style pastel Easter dress this year so we’ll probably stick to ivory itti bittis or something like that, but BRIGHT pink Rumparooz (old style) for when the bunny is on his way!

I think Spring is all about rebirth and renewal, so the perfect time to buy a new diaper to show off. I am going to buy a new BG Elemental once my local store gets them in stock. It is an hour away which makes it hard to pop in to buy a new diaper. I hope to get it by Easter.
Man, I really have thought much about our Easter clothing! I will probably make a dress to match her by 4.0 mirror. That is just the prettiest color ever
Orchid – Thirsties all in one. 🙂 She isn’t born yet, but should be by Easter. 🙂 I already have an outfit for her.
Blossom and Mirror BG 4.0s would be my Easter outfit choices. 🙂
