I published my Kissaluvs pocket training pants review in May 2011 when they were released. The trainers are available in 2T (20-32 lbs) or 3T (28-40 lbs.) I reviewed the 2T previously, and when my 4 year old said he would be happier wearing trainers at night if he had “blue ones,” I grabbed the size 3T for him.
The trainers have two snap settings (you can adjust the waist & legs independently) and a cotton flannel inner (helps your child feel wet, and also adds to absorbency.) 2 layers of microfiber absorbency are sewn in, and you can easily add another soaker to the pocket if you need more absorbency.
Here’s the 3T trainer compared to the 2T (in brown) as well as to a pair of size 4 little boy undies.
The trainer is trim through the middle but you can still fit absorbency in the pocket if you need to.
Here is the 3T’s rise measured stretched, as well as the 3T and 2T side by side.
My son is 4.5 and somewhere between 33 & 35 pounds. He’s petite but not unreasonably so, yet he can still wear the size 2T (on the outer snap settings.) He is wearing his undies under the trainers in these pictures, they make it seem less like a diaper to him!
Though somewhat low-rise, they fit him quite well! The size 3T are actually a little big on him.
If I pulled them up a bit, the rear “poof” was reduced, but they settled back down again. He’s just not chunky enough for the 3T yet! 🙂
The trainers retail for $14.95 each and are really quite versatile. You can stuff them & use them as diapers when you want something easily pulled up & down to “practice” going potty. Without added absorbency they are super trim to catch little accidents. For us, the 2 layers of microfiber along with the absorbent flannel inner and PUL outer are enough to keep my son dry at night. If you had a bedwetter of course, you’d need to add a hemp insert etc. to make it through! I also appreciate the snaps to easily take them off when they are wet.

I think they are really a great value since they are available in larger sizes and can be used as a pocket diaper or trainer. You can buy them for a baby who is perhaps on the cusp of learning to use the potty and use them as a pocket diaper first, a trainer later. This is especially great since there aren’t that many diapers available to fit kids who outgrow large cloth diapers. How easy are they to pull up and down?
The bigger size is easier to pull up & down on him, the 2T are snug!
Thanks for this review. My son is a tad bit smaller than yours and we have one 2T size and starting to wonder if I should order a 3T. I think I will, in the hopes we can get to the point of using it for nights soon. He does well some nights but other times pees a lot.
