I received a product at no cost. I was not asked to write, nor was I compensated for this post, and all opinions are my own. I was so psyched when Thirsties unveiled new products at ABC this year. I love the new prints and I was super excited to try the new one-size AIO. I’ve been a Thirsties fan since 2009 and I get panicky when they discontinue something I like (such as the duo pockets) but they never disappoint (see the one-size diaper and new hook & loop.)
The size one Duo AIO didn’t work as well for us since it didn’t have the absorbency of the hemp in the pockets (I have a heavy wetter!) I’d planned to show you a side-by-side of the duo AIO vs o/s AIO but it’s missing! I’ve loaned out my newborn diapers to several friends and I never keep good track of them so sometimes one doesn’t find its way back. 🙂 In any case, I already love the fit of the one-size pocket (I was worried about that since I loved the size 2 duos) and the AIO has a nearly identical cut.
Thirsties estimates that the new o/s AIO is 40% more absorbent than the duo AIO (I don’t doubt it) and dries in 20 minutes (it’s very quick.)
The diapers fit about 8-40 pounds and have a 3-layer microfiber soaker, topped with microfleece. There’s an additional layer of microterry sewn into the body (also topped w/microfleece) and the diapers come in snaps or their great new H&L. Though this diaper will be available in October, I also got to peek at the newborn version which will be available around December. It’s like a mini version, with scaled down H&L that will induce ovulation upon viewing. (Just kidding. Kinda.)
You may be wondering how this compares to the one-size pocket (I was) so I took a photo for you.
No double gusset but otherwise, it’s darn near identical (and I had no idea that my H&L had yellowed until I took this photo!)
Here’s the small rise setting:

I put my 26ish pound, 2 year/9 month old in the medium rise setting & got a great fit. Yes, it’s on a little funny but such is life when you are wrangling a kid this age! I appreciated how easy it was to put on and that it’s very forgiving if you end up closing it a bit crooked or not getting the front & back perfectly even. Yes, my use and reviews/photos are very true to life. I could have prettier photos if I bribed him to stay still long enough to fix the diaper so it’s pretty like a stock photo but let’s be real here. Quick wins in this house!
I was impressed with the absorbency, which is really more than most pocket diapers (they are typically 3 layer micro inserts.) It washed easily, dried fast and the print was just too much. I’ve made it a rule that I donate review diapers (so I am not playing favorites) but I’m going to have to either hang onto this one for a while, or buy one.
You will be able to buy these diapers in October at Thirsties retailers everywhere, including my affiliate Kelly’s Closet.
[…] the original one size AIO, the natural fiber AIO is designed to be a one-stop, easy to use […]
I just bought 5 of these and my 2yo son is soaking right through them. How many times did you wash to prep? I’m wondering if I haven’t prepped enough times? I’m really disappointed.
They’re microfiber so they don’t need to be prepped. Maybe at 2 he is just outwetting them? Try putting a hemp doubler under the flap and see if that helps!

You’ve got me excited for the NB diaper, I’m due in the spring, so I will be so happy to get these for my new little squish!
I love that you donate review diapers 🙂 I know the AIO duo didn’t have the gussets, but I was hoping this AIO would…I wonder why? Anyway, thanks for the great review!
Looks awesome! I have two Thirsties Duo AIOs and both of mine have yellowed hook & loop also. It happened very quickly too. It kind of bothers me!!
I love that your action photos are always realistic 😉 It certainly gives me a better idea of what it will look like after I’ve put it on my wiggly toddler!
