Jill wants to know:

What is your favorite natural sunscreen?

I had a hard time with this myself because there were so few available at my local organic store, and they were so expensive!

I received (free) for review, Episencial ($14.99/4 oz), Green Babies ($16.99/3 oz) and Elemental Herbs ($15.99/3 oz.)

I liked all of them, but the price of Episencial is nice and I light how light/non-greasy it is.

I am continuing to look for new new sunscreens to try!

What is your favorite?

I will admit that my main criteria is not so much “natural” as physical blockers sunscreen–I only get sunscreens that use titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the active ingredients, since my family is very very fair-skinned (everyone is red-headed or blonde, and I have freckles as well), and the physical blockers work better than the chemical ones. For an inexpensive one, the Banana Boat Naturals Baby sunscreen has been working really well for us. It probably doesn’t fit most everyone’s definition of “natural,” but it is affordable and effective, and doesn’t make my sensitive-skinned, eczema-prone husband or older son break out in a rash.

My favorite is the Very Emollient Mineral Protection from Alba (note that the Kids and Fragrance Free formulas are identical). I get it from Vitacost, and used to pay around $6 a tube, but it appears to have gone up to $7.50 this summer. Still more affordable than many of the other options though.

I absolutely hate the Burt’s Bees and Beyond Coastal brands.
