I love Bummis, but had never tried their potty pants since they came out after my oldest potty trained and before my youngest was anywhere near ready. As I’ve mentioned in my other recent cloth training pants reviews, my 4 1/2 year old is in trainers at night now. He wasn’t happy about this, but I wasn’t happy about changing his sheets every night! As a compromise, I let him choose a few new trainers and this was one. I also grabbed a size small for my little guy so I could show you those as well.
The trainers are available in small (18-25 lbs), medium (25-30 lbs) and large (30-35 lbs.)
The sides of the trainers are super stretchy and overall they have a very trim fit. There are 2 layers of sewn in absorbency (one cotton, one microfiber) so while they will catch an accident, they aren’t a substitute for a diaper (there’s no pocket to add absorbency.) They have a PUL outer so accidents stay in the trainer, and the natural fiber inner helps your child feel wetness.
To give you an idea of their size, I compared them to a pair of size 4 little boy undies.
My son is 4 1/2 and rather petite at 33-35ish pounds (he can still wear Bumgenius 4.0s unsnapped all the way.) He liked to wear his undies under the trainers so it felt more like “just in case” than a diaper, but in trainers with stretchy sides like this, the side panels are not waterproof, leading to wicking if the undies were soaked at night.
They have a great fit, and the stretchy sides make them really easy to pull up and down. They are not designed for bed wetters etc. but they are absorbent enough to catch an accident at night for us.
The smalls are identical but…well, smaller.
My 4 1/2 year old was easier to photograph, since he’s old enough to bribe reward ha. My little guy is 23/24 months in the below photos and around 23 pounds.
The fit was awesome, which is hard on a little guy his size. At the same time, there is plenty of room to grow thanks to the stretchy sides. The trainer is perfect for these early stages of just “trying” to use the potty when you get tired of taking the diaper on & off, but he’s not quite ready for undies or nakey time. They’re also great for when you need backup for outings etc. since they are so trim and easy to use.
Bummis potty pants are reasonably priced at $15.95 per pair, and are made in Canada like other Bummis products!

These look great! My 20 month old has been waking up dry and been going on the potty in the mornings (we are working on potty breaks during the day. These would be great so she could have something she could pull up and down. Bummis products are great quality, so we’ll have to try these!
Just ordered this exact one in Large for my 2 yr old that is right around 30 lbs. Now I’m wondering if it’ll be too big. Great review like always!
I think it will be perfect! The sides are really stretchy, and my guy probably isn’t a whole lot bigger than your 2 year old! 🙂
