A Review of GroVia No Prep Soaker Pads by a Cloth Diaper Mom

In September (if I remember correctly!) GroVia offered to sponsor my top fan giveaway with their new Lotus shell and no-prep soaker pads. The lucky winner agreed to share her opinion of these new inserts. (Post contains affiliate links.)

When I first opened the package, I was ecstatic to see how bright and colorful the new Grovia Lotus was! It’s a gorgeous fuchsia pink and unlike any of the other pink/purple colors that I own by other manufacturers. It is definitely a color that I reach for frequently.

The No-Prep soaker pads initially surprised me by how bulky they seemed. I guess I was expecting a trimmer appearance. But we aren’t afraid of fluffy butts in this house. Here is how I would rate my experience in the following areas. These soakers were tested on my (rough estimates) 20 lb. 7 mo. daughter and 30 lb. 23 mo. son.

Bulk: Yes, these are a little fluffier than other options. The Grovia Stay-Dry Soaker Pad is a much trimmer option.

Absorbency: I was pleasantly surprised in this area. I tried these for regular daytime usage with no issues. I used them for naps, while my daughter did outpee them once during a nap, I felt like this was a fluke event. I also tested these overnights. I was feeling brave. I typically use hemp prefolds overnights as my daughter is a heavy wetter and my son, while not a heavy wetter, I like to be assured of his protection and the protection of my sanity. I did NOT try them alone, but I used them with a hemp insert inserted in the tunnel. It fit perfectly! Although, again, not a super trim option, it worked very nicely for both of my kids. I loved knowing that there was stay-dry fabric against their skin overnight.

Ease of Use: Grovia is a system that I reach for frequently. I love being able to just grab a few covers and inserts and throw them in the diaper bag. Plus no folding or stuffing makes my life with 2 in diapers so much easier.

Ease of Cleaning: Ok, this part may be TMI, but we have 3 dogs, 3 very hairy dogs. I deal with pet hair on a daily basis. I have found that microfiber just isn’t very “hair friendly”. It drives me a little crazy having to pluck hair off of these every time they come out of the drier. But on the other hand, microfiber doesn’t stain as easily. The Grovia Organic Soaker Pads stain very easily and I am always having to work on sunning or using my buncha farmers stain stick on them. The No-prep soakers haven’t stained at all and are always white right out of the wash.

Overall Assesment: This is another solid Grovia product. I absolutely love the tunnel design of all their insert options. It makes adding additional absorbency a snap, they clean very nicely, and drying is a breeze.

Great review Jutta! I love that you took pictures of the fit and how you laid the system out for night time|!

I’m curious about the tunnel design you mentioned. We don’t have any GroVia inserts, other than their bamboo prefolds.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience with all of us, Jutta! I have wondered how these worked, and now Im thinking they are worth it. My organic soakers stain so easily, and it is hard to sun them now that colder shorter days have arrived. Love that these clean well.
