Questions don’t have to be cloth diaper related, just email maria at change-diapers.com with “Mailbox Mondays” in the subject, or fill out my contact form for readers, which you will always be able to find on my Contact Page.

I couldn’t resist letting my toddler run around in hot weather in just a cute diaper now I have 3 diapers with ground in dirt on the outside and leg gussets that did not wash out or sun out. What else can I do?
My suggestion would be to either make a paste of detergent, or use a dab of Dawn (original) dish soap, and scrub the affected areas with a nail brush…rinse in the sink, then wash until the water is clean/free of bubbles. If this doesn’t work, you may just have to live with the stains. It won’t affect their function, and will likely fade with repeated washing & sunning.
Some manufacturers advise against using detergents like Tide, or additives like Oxi-Clean on your diapers however, I’ve had great success with powdered Tide original & a dab of Oxi-Clean Free to remove stubborn stains.
How do you get really dirty diapers clean?
I know of a diaper service that washes exclusively with an oxi-clean type detergent. Their customers are very happy.
