@DriLineBaby Semi-Fitted #Clothdiapers Review
I recently purchased several Dri-Line Baby diapers, including their September special, which is a medium semi-fitted diaper for $4.
The semi-fitted is similar to what I’ve seen called a “pre-fitted,” which is a cross between a prefold and a fitted. Often, a WAHM has added snaps & leg elastic to a prefold. In the case of the semi-fitted, it is 8 layers of cotton flanelette all the way across, and has leg elastic and 3 snaps on each side of the front, 2 snaps on each wing.
The diapers are sized:
- X-Small (White with white stitching) 0-6 Lbs
- Small (White with yellow stitching) 6-15 Lbs
- Medium (White with blue stitching) 15-20 Lbs
- Large (white with green stitching) 20-30 Lbs
- X-Large (white with red stitching) 30 and Up
My son is 9.5 months old and about 16 lbs, so I thought the medium would be a good fit. When I received the diaper it seemed rather small.
It did shrink slightly after washing & drying:
It was actually a good fit for him,and he has one more snap to go on each side. The rise isn’t super-high, and it would be a tighter fit on a baby with a bigger belly.
While it doesn’t have rear elastic, that isn’t a concern for me since prefolds don’t either, and it will be covered.
It is easier to use (for me) than a prefold, but performs similarly (except it is more absorbent with a layers throughout instead of 4/8/4 like many prefolds.)
I used it under the Dri-Line Baby snap-to-fit cover and it worked well.
It is a simple diaper and the price reflects that, but it is an improvement over prefolds since it has leg elastic and snap closures. I would definitely recommend sizing up if you are at all in doubt, or prefer a higher rise. I’d love to see/measure the other sizes. These would be adorable on a newborn!
Dri-Line Baby’s website indicates that they do not sell to the public, but that is no longer the case. They are working on getting online shopping available, but in the meantime, you can order by emailing info at dri-line .com. I know that isn’t ideal, but they are happy to give you prices and shipping estimates if you like.
