Get Rid of Caillou – How To Delete a Show from Netflix

Get rid of caillou - how to delete a show from Netflix - via @chgdiapers

Sick of Caillou and his incessant whining? Or is there some other show you can’t stand to see or hear one more time? Here’s how to make sure your child can’t find it again!

Log in to your account, hover over your name and go to “your account.” (If the offending show was watched under a child’s profile, you will first have to go to manage profiles, select the child, and uncheck “kid.” Once you’re finished, you can change it back.)

remove a show from netflix step 1

Scroll down to the “my profile” section and click “viewing activity.”

remove a show from netflix step 2

Click the X next to the show you want to remove.

remove a show from netflix step 3

Click remove series.

remove a show from Netflix Step 4

The show will not appear in your viewing history anymore and won’t affect your show suggestions. Make sure you also rate the show 1 star so Netflix doesn’t suggest it! (Hint: Kid profiles can’t rate shows so do this while you have it as a non-kid profile.)

remove a show from netflix - done

This trick also comes in handy for cleaning things up if your child has been watching on your profile, and you’re getting only kids shows suggestions. Or if you watched something you’d rather not own up to watching. 😉

This doesn’t work for kids who know how to read, spell and search of course, but it will keep the annoying show buried enough that you can direct your child to something less horrible.

What kids show would you like to remove permanently?

I’ve never heard of it but it sounds great! Netflix allows you to PIN restrict certain titles, but creating a list of ONLY what you’ve chosen sounds amazing!

Hop. The moral of the movie is ‘Everyone lies’. I remember taking my oldest kid when he was like 9 to it when it came out and wanted to walk out after 5 minutes.

My family uses a combination of Netflix for shows and Kodi. I absolutely love Kodi when it comes to creating a list of material that I have approved for my kid. No media company telling me what I can or can’t show my kid. Best part of it?

I am unable to do this for kids shows thou – what do you mean by:

“(If the offending show was watched under a child’s profile, you will first have to go to manage profiles, select the child, and uncheck “kid.” Once you’re finished, you can change it back.)”

Kid isn’t an option for me, help please!

Log into Netflix on your computer and you’ll see the screen with everyone’s profile pictures and “manage profile under it. Click that, click the pencil icon under the profile you want to change. There will be a check box to the right of the name field that says “kid.” Uncheck that. When you’re finished you can change it back. Hope that helps!

I’m with Katie. I came here, specifically, to learn how to remove Horrid Henry. My child has been acting like a total monster after watching that show.

Thanks. I didn’t use it for a kids show. But I did use it to remove Grace and Frankie. I consider myself an open, Liberal, person, but the vibrator cover seems a little much.

The process you outlined above only deletes the history and not the show itself. I have done this and my kids still have the option of watching these shows when they access their ipads. I have spent a lot of time with the Netflix helpdesk pushing on the ability to remove shows from being viewed again. The usual answer is “I will give our management team your feedback”. I have rated many shows negatively so my kids don’t get other suggestions. Really frustrating that you can’t do this easily and manage the shows your kids watch. I did put on a parental control for ANY show to be downloaded – not just within a maturity level. What Netflix considers mature enough for my kids is not the same for me. Did you find a work around to actually deleting them?

THANK YOU! I have tried to figure this out for so long. Worked great–just removed several shows. You’d think Netflix would have a button to make this easier.

You’re welcome and I’m so glad it worked for you! A delete button would make too much sense I guess. 😉

THANK YOU!! I’m normally pretty lenient with kid shows, but my daughter found one called “Horrid Henry” and I can’t fathom how someone thought it would be a good thing for kids to watch.

    Omg, THANK YOU.

Not only are there a bunch of things I want removed from the kid list, but a glitch added a bunch of their stuff to my profile.
