On April 26th, I co-hosted the Great Cloth Diaper Change in Shepherdstown, WV with Up On the Hill. We were competing with the town’s Earth Day festival, but still had a great turnout with 42 participants.
We had lots of fantastic exhibitors, including a company selling vegan cupcakes. Yum!
There was a fantastic babywearing demo, and a dancing for birth & baby demonstration.
We were honored to have Kristen of GEN-Y at the event, and we were one of the first to see their brand new product! GEN-Y’s universal inserts are hemp/cotton or microfiber topped with minky. These inserts are available in small (12″ x 4″) or large (15″ x 4.5″) and sets of two retail for $8.99. Inserts snap together and fit best in GEN-Y Univeral or Simply U covers, or any diapering system. GEN-Y generously provided a set for our raffle!
Speaking of raffles, we had a lot of fun getting to give away the items generously donated! We also collected a huge box of good condition diapers to donate to Giving Diapers Giving Hope, and made a donation to the Real Diaper Association. The Great Cloth Diaper Change is a fun event allowing you to connect with other cloth diapering families and win some great swag, but some people forget that this is an event designed to bring awareness to cloth diapering. It is also the RDA’s single biggest fundraising event, bringing in more than 50% of their income. We were pleased to be able to donate on behalf of our participants.
