In 2015, Kelly’s Closet/Diaper Shops and Thirsties graciously agreed to be Giving Diapers Giving Hope’s Shipping partners for two years. They went above and beyond that, continuing to volunteer their space and time to pack and ship diapers for GDGH recipients until this year.
At the same time, our team has volunteered their own time, taking time away from their families and paid work opportunities, to make sure families received much-needed diapers.
Over the years, as other organizations have come and gone, support has waxed and waned, and more affordable diapers became readily available, it was unclear if GDGH was still needed in the industry. We have restructured and reorganized and wanted to continue to help families experiencing diaper need.
As our shipping partners’ commitments have ended and they are understandably ready to move on to other endeavors, we can’t thank them enough for all they have done for our organization. That said, looking at 2019 without shipping partners, we feel the time has come to close our doors.
We will stop accepting applications on 11/30 with the last shipments being sent 12/14. Any unpaid applications at that time will be rejected. This will allow us time to donate unshipped diapers to another charity, pay any outstanding expenses, and work with our accountant to officially close our doors.
We are still open to bringing on a retailer and/or manufacturer as a shipping partner in 2019 however, we know that it is a huge undertaking and have accepted that closing is likely the right thing to do.

Maria wants to live in a world where cloth diapers are the norm and moms can make parenting choices without judgement. When she’s not chasing her 18, 14 and 11-year old kids around, you might find her checking out the latest gadgets, organizing something (again) or exercising in the fresh air. 
Oh man, I’m so sad to see another cloth diaper charity/group close their doors (I get it, but I’m still sad!). Do you have suggestions of other places people could donate their used diapers to?
I’m sad to see this go, especially since other places are closing their doors, too. Hopefully other people will take up the mantle or those inexpensive options are good enough to last for those in need. You did a wonderful job with this and I’m thankful for all those you helped.
