Why I Care About The Cloth Diaper Detergent “Rules”

Why is cloth diaper detergent such a hot button issue for me? Why do I care how you wash your diapers? Why does an internet “fight” about this way vs. that way, and arguments over semantics make me want to tear my hair out? Well, first of all because the detergent rules/fear is what stopped me from cloth diapering earlier, and I was pretty ticked when I found out that what I’d been told through the old game of telephone was simply untrue (yet 4 years later, the same things are repeated daily.)

What is Tide Actilift, and Will it Damage My Cloth Diapers?

Many families use Tide on their cloth diapers, and any time the formula is changed, they worry. All Tide has been “ultra” for the past few years, and it is simply a more concentrated formula. Then Actilift crystals appeared, and users started to wonder what they were, and whether they’d damage their diapers. I realize that cloth diaper detergent is a hot button issue, and some people feel strongly that you should never use mainstream detergents. This post is not for those people. If you do use Tide, this post is for you!

At the risk of looking like I’m exploiting my child (I’m not, she is dying to be “famous,”) can praise go viral like shame?

Should I “make” her wear an “I worked hard and got an A+” sign around her neck while I take her out for ice cream? 😉
