Boingo Cloth Diaper Fasteners

About 6 months ago, I was asked to review the improved Boingo cloth diaper fasteners. I asked questions about how they differed from the original Boingo since I had heard mixed reviews. I received the additional info, agreed to review them, but never received the product. I ended up deciding to buy a pair myself, after hearing how much easier they were to use than a Snappi or pins.

I purchased mine in the “disco” (glitter) color from my affiliate, Dearest Diapers (affiliate link.)

They are available in several colors, and I like their funky design. Here’s what the owner had to say about the difference between the original Boingo and the Boingo 2.0:

Our original Boingo’s were made with TPR material and our new design is now made with medical grade surgical silicone. The edges around the star are rounded now instead of pointed, which makes them much more comfortable for baby. Our new design was shortened in length and in width by one inch and the star itself is now sitting in an inlay rather than on top of the Boingo.

She also sent along this video, which demonstrates the differences:

I prefer a snappi over pins, but I’ve struggled with them a bit, getting them on properly and keeping them from popping off. That is especially true on my hemp prefolds. It seems to be hit or miss when trying to get hemp to snappi. I think it has to do with how the teeth hit the weave.

I’ve also had the snappi leave holes in some of my diapers. There are several on one of my hemp jersey prefolds, and when I sent my Guerilla Fluff Utilitarian along to someone to borrow, she thought she had made the holes!

The plastic “teeth” of the Boingos do not feel as “sharp” (can plastic teeth be sharp?) as the Snappi, and they do not angle upward like the teeth of the Snappi.

The Boingo worked beautifully on both the hemp jersey (above) and hemp fleece (below) and it was so much easier than the snappi. No popping off and repositioning. Just on and done.

For a little baby, you can also use just one in the middle.

A pair of Boingo fasteners is $4.69 however, they do not need to be replaced unless they show signs of wear, and you really only need one pair (maybe two so you have a spare!)

You can find them at retailers including my affiliates: Dearest Diapers, Kissed by the Moon, Sweetbottoms Baby Boutique, Clothdiaper.com and Diaper Safari.

I paid normal retail price for the pictured products. This post contains affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I will receive a small portion of the sale as commission. Thank you!

What kind of fabrics can the boingo be used on? I have some home made diapers where the outside is quilters cotton, which is more woven. Do you think the boingo would attach and keep hold on this style of fabric?

I think if anything would grab that fabric, it would be Boingo. My Boingos even work with some hemp products I have that Snappis don’t want to stick to!

This is a great product BUT I’ve had issues with my one pair of the new version and their customer service is lacking when it come to their warranty that they offer. The retailer I purchased from is making it up to me for sure but I did want to mention this. These work great when they work but the teeth broke off of one side on both of my Boingos within a week or so just using them at night-I didn’t have this issue with my original version Boingos so I think this is a defect in a particular batch or something. I was going to use these for potty training because you can use these coverless unlike a Snappi but we’re getting very close to when we really need to just GO with potty training and I’ve been dealing with the lack of customer service for a few weeks now. Kind of annoying!

I haven’t had problems yet, but the customer service does seem a little spotty. Glad your store took care of it for you!!

I’ll have to try these. I have been having lots of problems with Snappis, especially on my SBish snapless. Thanks
