@NaraBums Hybrid Fitted #Clothdiapers Review
I had never heard of NaraBums until owner Amber asked me to review her hybrid fitted diaper. I have heard of hybrid fitteds before, but I have never used one. Hybrid fitteds are not waterproof as they do not have a PUL or TPU layer, but they have a layer of poly fleece that makes them far more water resistant than a regular fitted, while maintaining the absorbency and breathability that makes fitted diapers so great.
Amber allowed me to choose the print for my diaper, and I was so in love with the clouds! The print is even cuter in person.
NaraBums offers both snap and hook & loop closures. I love hook & loop for the ease of use, customizable fit, and hubby friendly aspect. However, snaps are great for their durability, plus there’s no snagging in the wash issues. I let Amber choose my closure, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the hook & loop.
It is extremely soft, with big laundry tabs (I’ve had no issues with the laundry tabs staying put in the wash.)
The diaper is one-size via 3 rise settings and the diaper body has a knit interlock outer, hidden fleece, and super sherpa inner.
My diaper is the night time/super heavy wetter version. It has a large snap in soaker that is 2 layers of hemp terry, 3 layers of hemp jersey, topped with (custom milled) super sherpa and backed with fleece. A smaller soaker has 2 layers of hemp jersey and 2 layers of hemp terry sandwiched between super sherpa, for a total of 16 layers. The smaller soaker can be made with our without gussets (mine is with) and can be used alone or with the larger soaker.
The closure tabs overlap for smaller babies.
Here is the small setting measured folded and stretched:

The hook & loop NaraBums uses is so soft that you can truly take advantage of the full size range of the diaper without any concern about the loop touching baby.
Amber included some diaper care info, and I love that she pre-washes all materials once so your pretty diaper doesn’t shrink all unevenly when you prep it!
I put my 16ish pound 9 month old in the medium setting:
He has tons of room to grow in it! I used the diaper with both inserts, coverless, and after more than two hours, I was barely noticing a cool/damp feeling in the wet zone. The diaper is a bit bulky (not unexpected, it is a very absorbent night time diaper!) but I believe I could use just one soaker during the day, and still use it coverless.
I used the diaper at night under a size 2 Thirsties duo wrap. I did have to unsnap the rise all the way in order to completely cover the diaper however, the fitted is pretty generously sized (I think my son would be fine on the small setting.) Normally when I use fitteds at night, the diaper is completely soaked, inside and out, and my son’s skin is wet. With this diaper, nearly half of the outer felt fairly dry, and my son’s skin didn’t feel uncomfortably wet.
The workmanship is impeccable, and a regular price of $28 for a regular fitted, or $34 for the night time version is not unreasonable for a hand made, super absorbent diaper like this. I wish NaraBums had existed when I was desperate for a night time solution 3 years ago!
