Sprout Change Training Pants Review

While looking for “blue” training pants for my 4.5 year old (he needs backup for accidents at night), I found Sprout Change training pants on clearance for $13.95 (regularly $18.95) at Sweetbottoms Baby Boutique. Sprout change products are made in the USA.
The training pants are “one-size” and are estimated to fit children from 15-50 pounds. You can choose from 10 colors with a a stay-dry or organic inner, and I chose the stay dry.
The trainers remind me of the Sprout Change AI2 system and really, they are very much the same (except of course the trainer has sewn in absorbency and a liner!) The trainers have the same simple, side snap closure the shell system has, as well as the same size adjustment.
Open the snap near the closures, and you’ll find hidden adjustments for both the legs and waist.
The trainer (if you choose stay-dry) has a super soft fleece inner, and it’s quite trim through the middle.
This trainer is the most diaper like of all that I’ve used, and in fact would make a great AIO diaper. I’m not sure what this opening on the front is for, but I was able to peek at the sewn in absorbency. The opening looks like the one on Softbums diapers to adjust the elastic, but I fished my finger around and didn’t feel any additional adjustments in the front.
Here is the rise (stretched) and waist on the largest settings, as well as the size compared to a pair of size 4 undies.
I put it on my son on the largest settings; he could have used a more snug waist setting, but he didn’t want me to tighten it. In the photos below, he’s wearing the trainer over undies, because it makes him feel less like he’s wearing a diaper.
He is somewhere between 33 & 35 pounds, and has lots of room to grow. The sides look a little funky but it was probably operator error in getting the adjustment tabs tucked back in just right!
If your child needs even more room, you can grab snap extenders, which Sweetbottoms has on clearance for $3.50.
The trainers are super absorbent, and would be a great choice for a toddler or larger baby who needs a larger diaper. Use them as an AIO diaper, then use them as a trainer later when you need to be able to pull them up & down.
Have you used Sprout Change trainers?
Love that these could be a diaper and then a trainer later on and that they fit such a big size range.
