Have you been following Baby Oliver’s story? Oliver, born at 25 weeks/1 lb 9 oz, is now 11 weeks old and just broke the 5 lb mark. Doctors are hopeful that he will be able to leave the NICU in a month or so, though he will have frequent doctor visits and potential future surgeries ahead of him. The family has insurance however, it doesn’t cover all costs (bills are arriving daily) or their extra expenses involved with his NICU stay. Amii is spending most of her time about 3 hours away from home so she can be in the NICU with Oliver, and her husband is caring for their older kids and driving back and forth.
The store is their sole means of income, and prior to Oliver’s unexpected birth, Amii ran the store the majority of the time. Since she’s not able to be there (and won’t be able to have Oliver out in public after he comes home) the store has struggled to keep their doors open. Inconsistent hours are the death of a micro brick & mortar business and can lead to days where not enough product is sold to cover the cost of an employee, let alone rent. The only reason I share this is in case people misunderstand and think that micro business owners are rolling in dough. 🙂
Growing Up’s Sassy Sirens Tula fundraiser was a huge success and a big help for the Fritz family. Since Up On the Hill was one of a few boutiques to sell the exclusive Tula print “Quill” and also matching GEN-Y GO Bags, they have decided to offer a similar giveaway as a fundraiser.
Prize: Tula standard carrier in Quill print (ARV $149 but have resold for double) and matching GEN-Y GO bag also in Quill print (ARV $28.99).
