Chelory was one of those brands that I was very curious about, like Ragababe. They have a big following, are pricey and hard to get. I’d heard about them in a cloth group quite a while ago, and at first glance, they looked just like Bumgenius to me.
I also instantly thought of certain smilies from Slickdeals.
Tee-hee! Anyhoo, I never thought I’d pay $30 for one diaper but considering how little I’ve spent to cloth diaper both of my boys, when I actually caught a stocking, I bit. Like other WAHMs, Chelory is stocked periodically with just a few diapers, and like some high-demand stores, there was a limit on the # you could buy, and diapers are typically snapped up faster than you can click. I managed to catch a stocking, and although she lifted the purchase limit, there were a few left. Not many, but a few. Orange probably wouldn’t have been my first choice, but beggars can’t be choosers…wait…that just sounds odd considering I was begging to spend $30, amirite? :-p
The diaper got here ridiculously fast. I purchased a stay-dry AIO, but she also has organic AIOs and AI2s.
Above, I’ve pictured it with a Bumgenius 4.0, and also with a Bumgenius Sassy to compare the colors. The Chelory looks to me like the body of a 4.0 (minus the stretchy tabs, and a little more square in front) and a soaker similar to the Bumgenius Elemental (Organic AIO.)
Chelory diapers are available with hook & loop closures or snaps. The tabs easily fold back and stick to laundry tabs (which work, so far!) and there are 3 rise settings as well as encased leg elastic and rear elastic.
The listing says that the soakers are bamboo and zorb topped with stay dry wicking fabric. It doesn’t say how many layers etc. but I have found the diaper to be very absorbent, and also very slow to dry, even if I flip the soaker in the dryer. The stay-dry fabric is the same kind on Super Undies…it has little holes in it and looks like a sport fabric. I don’t know the correct term for it!
Here is the small measured folded & stretched (definitely not an exact science, but just to give you an idea.) The owner estimates that these diapers will fit 12-40 pounds.

This diaper is very absorbent, and continues to gain absorbency each time I wash it, as is typical of bamboo. I like the fit since it is nearly identical to a 4.0. Even so, I still prefer a pocket where I can dry the insert separately, have it very trim and/or add absorbency as needed. With a price tag of $30, I’m definitely not itching to buy another, but I don’t regret buying it…I was dying of curiosity.

I love the bumgenius 4.0 and Elemental, so I’d probably love this one!
Ella has a Chelory. I went with snaps though. I tend to save it for when we run errands or visit family because it’s so absorbent. It does have a long dry time and that can be kind of annoying, but I still really like it.
I managed to grab an elephant one, but she has one that looks like space that I still really want.
