Eco Nuts Natural Ammonia Bouncer for Cloth Diapers – Review & Giveaway US/CAN (1/2)

I love Eco Nuts’ liquid soap nuts detergent (I used it during the flats/hand washing challenge), and Eco Nuts sent me their newest product, a natural ammonia bouncer.

You can use the ammonia bouncer by soaking your diapers in 1-2 tablespoons, adding a dab to the wash, spraying your diapers, or even spraying around your toilet and on sheets.

I don’t have major ammonia issues with my clean diapers, but night time diapers (especially night time trainers for my older son) can get pretty ripe by the morning, let alone by wash day. Eco Nuts sent me a sprayer nozzle as well (not included) so I could try it on these funky diapers.

The ammonia bouncer contains natural, plant ingredients:

Saccharomyces ferment (fermented sugarcane per Eco Nuts), distilled water, organic sapindus muskorossi (soap nuts) extract, potassium sorbate (potassium salt of sorbic acid, a common food preservative.)

The bottle says “do not drink” which you’d think “duh!” That is, until you smell it. It’s been 20+ years since I’ve had one but was immediately reminded of this:

I swear it smells just like Kool Aid Bursts. I almost want to buy one to see if it smells like I remember, ha.

The other giggle I got was over the Eco Nuts* *Does not contain nuts. I realize that not everyone knows that soap nuts are actually berries, not nuts, but it struck me as funny. Pumpkin Pie!* *Does not contain pumpkin Then again, I have an odd sense of humor.

I was brave in order to see if this really worked. I took a whiff of a toxic night time diaper before (gah!) and after Eco Nuts’ natural ammonia bouncer. It works! After spraying the insert, the toxic smell was no longer detectable. I now have it on my laundry room counter so I can spray night time diapers before putting them in my pail!

The 10 oz bottle retails for $16.50, and there are 10 uses per bottle according to the website. Of course, that would be if you used an ounce each time, and the bottle has already lasted me more than 10 uses.
