I’m going to be honest. My hair “style” is either a braid or a ponytail at home, and I might un-do it and put a barrette in when we go somewhere. Maybe. I am very guilty of the “mom ponytail.” I have rather long hair, and it’s not by choice, it’s because my hair grows quickly, and I can’t manage to get a haircut more often that once a year, or every-other year. I have an ongoing joke with my hairstylist (who is a family friend & I’ve known forever) that I always get my “pregnancy haircut.” She told me recently; “you know, you can get your hair cut when you’re not pregnant!” LOL. I can’t actually remember the last time I got a haircut!
Shaune Bazner hair accessories have been around since 1978. Shaune began her artistic career as a dancer in the early 70’s. She was always in search of a hair accessory that would hold her hair up securely yet not give her headaches and breakage. Starting with a single pair of chopsticks, she started experimenting. Soon after, she trademarked the shape of the perfect hairstick. What she found most exciting was that these hairsticks held ANY type of hair. This was a breakthrough, especially for women with baby fine hair. No headaches, no breakage. Elegant, comfortable and secure. Mei Fa Hairstyx (meaning “beautiful hair” or “beautiful method” in Chinese) can be used in so many ways!
The hair sticks are hand crafted in Washington, D.C. (allwood wooden hair sticks are made in America with birch wood from sustainable forests in Maine) and come in an unbelievable number of designs. If you’re overwhelmed, you can sort by color! They came in a beautiful case with thorough instructions (videos also available on the website!)
I received the longer hair sticks, but they are also available in “shorties.”
The craftsmanship and attention to detail is amazing. The hair sticks are works of art!!
When I first received the Hair Styx, I was overwhelmed by the instructions. I quickly watched the videos (without sound, so I didn’t have over-the-shoulder-watchers), then gave them a try!
I was hooked right away. They were so easy to use, and the more I practiced, the better I got.
Here, I also didn’t follow the basic instructions of inserting 1 hair stick at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock (tip facing ceiling) then reversing, dragging along scalp and securing. Pictures were also self-phone-portraits. Still, it looked nice I think! I had far more success when I followed the instructions!
Visit the Shaune Bazner Youtube page for wonderful videos including the instructional video below, a customer testimonials, how to use HairStyx as shawl pins and more!
I also received a Shaune Bazner 10-in-1 convertible, and I had a really hard time choosing one; they are all so beautiful!
The convertibles are also made in D.C., and are 60″ of stretch cord with seed beads, faceted crystal and pearls. You can make 5-7 different necklaces, bracelet, headband, pony-tail holder, partial up-do’s, anklet and a low slung belt. One size fits all, and the possibilities are really endless. (More self-portraits!)
Hair Styx retail for around $28-38 (all wood Hair Styx are just $12) and 10-in-1 convertibles are $24.
Shaune Bazner products are available for wholesale purchase by qualified retailers and distributors. If you think the products would be a good fit for your store, request wholesale access!
