We teamed up with Sweet Peanut to review some of their clothing from their new collection. Sweet Peanut currently only offers two collections during the year- each with it’s own unique seasonal colors and fun prints! While Sweet Peanut is a Canadian based company, you can find their baby clothing sold in over 1,500 boutiques and department stores throughout North America, the UK and Australia! Sweet Peanut has a humble aim: A sense of play, a dash of style and a whole lot of comfort wrapped up in soft and organic practical baby essentials.Â
Both the American Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada give manufacturers of children’s clothing a choice: either treat your clothing with chemical flame retardants or be classified as 100% cotton and snug fitting. Sweet Peanut chose the latter and for them, that choice was easy. While there have been studies that have shown there is a low migration of flame retardant chemical from fabric to skin, there is speculation and the safety of its use in the manufacturing process is in question. This is why the choice for Sweet Peanut was so easy to make sure their clothing is 100% organic and snug fitting. Not only that, their clothing is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified. It is never chemically treated and never will be. They also use azo free and non hazardous materials to dye and print their bright and vibrant colors. Sweet Peanut works in a close partnership with Health Canada so that their clothing meets the classifications for 100% cotton and snug fitting. They believe (strongly) in the purity of baby skin, the gift of health and reducing global toxic footprints!
Sweet Peanut has such an amazing selection of clothing for babies all the way up to big kid pajamas! I was pretty bummed that I don’t currently have a squishy baby to get some of the adorable shortsuits. I sat down with my kiddos and let them look at the Toddler and Big Kid PJs so they could pick some out for our review and I thought, how fun would matching pajamas be for this review?! So the boys agreed on the two piece pajamas in the super adorable Red Baron print. We decided they would need the short sleeves/shorts pajamas since summer is right around the corner and it was warming up here. We also got my two year old a second pair in the Emerson print also the short sleeves/shorts combo. It was a pretty tough choice, because there are some really great options.
I picked out the 5T for my four year old and the 2T for my two year old. The clothing is already preshrunk so you don’t have to worry about clothing being too small after washing. Sweet Peanut recommends washing inside out in cold water and putting them in the dryer on low tumble dry. I typically always wash our laundry in cold water to avoid shrinking the kids’ clothing anyway. These pajamas were definitely tight fitting on both of my boys. It’s slightly difficult to get their heads through the shirt, but I’m attributing this to them always being in the 90th percentile for their head circumference. I could have gone up a size for them, but I don’t feel like they would have fit as snug as they should.
The first thing I noticed when I received the pajamas is how incredibly soft they were! I don’t think any of the boys pajamas are this soft. But that’s because the Sweet Peanut clothing line is 100% cotton. They fit nice and snug like they’re supposed to and they keep the boys cool enough on a warm night. I love that the shorts have a little pocket on the back. It’s absolutely adorable. I really like that Sweet Peanuts designs aren’t super “baby” but also still super adorable and appropriate for your little one. I’m already making a mental note of some of the adorable girl clothing they have for when we plan on adding to our family, because the Around the World print is calling my name!
