I was sent three great products for review.
First up was the Olive Oil Soap. The soap is 100% natural and gently on baby’s skin. It’s made with lavender, avocado and olive oil. Not only did we use this soap with my 10 month old, but we also used it with my toddler who has really sensitive skin – he has horrible eczema issues. The soap smells amazing without having irritating the boys’ skin. I really like this soap because Lavender is one of my favorite scents. I often diffuse Lavender in our home. (You can also find essential oils at rain.)
On the back you’ll find that the soap packaging has a stamp that says “Beauty Without Cruelty” which is always something we look for in products we use around our house. This soap is available in a 2.1 ounce bar for $4.75.Â
I was also sent some of their talc free cornstarch powder. This powder is 100% natural, talc free, cornstarch powder with lavender and cape chamomile essential oils. The powder is used to reduce moisture and friction in your baby’s diaper area. You should apply carefully to the area of irritation and wash away any powder that may accumulate in the skin folds. You should not use on a severe rash or on open sores. I applied some to my hand then rinsed away the extra powder and my hand was really soft afterwards. The powder doesn’t have a strong scent like most powders which is nice.
As with the soap, the powder also has the “Beauty Without Cruelty” stamp on the back. You can purchase the talc free powder in a 1.4 ounce bottle for $7.00.
The final product I received was the Bum Balm. As with the soap and powder, this is all 100% natural and has the “Beauty Without Cruelty” stamp. The Bum Balm contains the following ingredients: olive oil (hydrating, anti-microbial, antioxidant), shea butter (softens skin and contains vitamins A&E), beeswax (moisture locking, anti-microbial, wound healing), avocado oil (moisturizing, anti- aging, emollient), marula oil (reverses skins damage and boosts cellular activity) and lanolin (emollient, moisture locking and rejuvenating). You always want to know exactly what you’re putting on your baby’s skin, so I love that they tell you exactly what ingredients are in the Bum Balm and what each ingredient does.
The Bum Balm has a slight scent but nothing that’s too overwhelming. It should be used sparingly on the places where your baby’s bottom comes in contact with the diaper (if you use cloth). The Bum Balm is green in color but rubs on clear. It doesn’t leave behind much of a mess like other creams I’ve tried. Once rubbed in, you can hardly tell it’s been applied which is nice because I don’t like when there’s a lot of residue left behind. I also tested this out on my hand so I could see how it felt after it had been applied. It applied nicely without being too oily and left my skin soft. So I know when I apply it to my little one, it’s not going to irritate his bottom even more. I reach for this more than my other bottom balms when his bottom needs some “ouchy cream.” Bum Balm comes in a 4.4 ounce container for $24. I feel like this Bum Balm will last us quite some time since we don’t have to use much of it when applying.
Note: Be sure to use a liner when using these products with your cloth diapers. Even with “cloth diaper safe” bottom balms, it’s always recommended to use a liner. When using the powder and bum balm, I used a fleece liner. If you don’t have liners, they can be made pretty easily (and cheap) by cutting up some fleece fabric. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. You could also use a disposable liner which a lot of cloth diaper companies make.
