Garden by the Sea sent me three of their products for free in exchange for a review. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are my own. Garden by the Sea is a 100% natural skincare line who also offers aromatherapy and teas on their site. Catrina Jackson began making all of her own baby products before her daughter was born so she knew she’d have safe products to use on her newborn while also protecting her cloth diapers.
Shortly before her daughter turned one, she ended up have an extreme dairy allergy which resulted in the very worst rash she had ever seen. Unfortunately, none of the products Catrina had developed already were tough enough to work on the horrible rash. While she was always careful on what products she used on her daughter, she was desperate and went to the store to purchase several different products. None of those worked either, none of them had exactly what her daughter needed. She couldn’t seem to find a product with all the qualities she was looking for. So one night Catrina went to her workshop and wrote out everything she wanted and needed in the perfect diaper cream. She wanted ingredients that were safe enough to use on her little one but something that would also get the job done. So she mixed and experimented until she came up with the right consistency and began to use it on her daughter. Finally, she found sweet relief! After a few applications of the balm, her daughter began to heal, she was no longer in pain and she now had created an awesome new balm in the process. After using the product on her daughter for a few months, she gave some out to cloth diapering friends to test. She got some extremely positive feedback and began offering the product in the shop that her and her mother run together. The customers were also giving positive feedback but not only for diaper rashes. The balm was being used for bug bites, bruises, eczema and psoriasis. A great product was born out of a Mothers’ desperation to help her daughter who was in pain and now has gone on to help other parents provide relief for their children.
The Little Lily’s Healing Bum Balm is an all natural, cloth diaper safe balm. It has 100% all natural ingredients which are: beeswax, mango butter, calendula infused olive oil, hemp seed oil, ricebran oil, peach kernel oil, olive oil, essential oils of French lavender, tea tree and patchouli and also golden jojoba oil. While the product is cloth diaper friendly, they still recommend using a liner for your diapers. The balm has a subtle smell, but nothing too overwhelming. I can’t quite name which scent it is, but it smells nice. Also a quick note – they use high grade hemp oil in the balm. So the balm may have a greenish appearance. This is completely normal and natural and will not color the skin or stain. (My balm did NOT have a green tint to it.)
I’ve actually been using this for everything! For our 4th of July celebration we saw fireworks but were greeted by the worst mosquitoes ever. My poor 3 year old got quite a few bites and scratched at them until they were the size of a quarter. He often complained that they hurt, so I put some balm on to relieve the itching and pain. So far, it seems to be working well for him. Of course we’ve also used it for my 1 year old who is still in diapers. The dreaded teething poop wreaks havoc especially during the warmer months. Unfortunately, he had some awful diaper rash from it and was in some horrible pain. Little Lily’s balm worked so well for him. After just a few small applications, he started getting much better.
You can find Little Lily’s Healing Bum Balm (which is named after Catrina’s daughter) retails for $16.95 for a 60 ML tin.
I was also sent Natural Baby Goat’s Milk Soap. The ingredients list is pretty small and simple and is as follows: Saponified Olea europaea (olive), cocoa nucifera (coconut), elaeis guineensis (palm) and brassica campestris (canola) oils along with goat’s milk. This soap is extra gentle for babies and children and protects and moisturizes sensitive skin.
I have a strange obsession with goat’s milk soap. My husband thinks I’m slightly crazy. However, I like using gentle soap on my kids during bath time because my oldest has eczema that really gets irritated if we use harsh soaps. We’ve been using some goats milk soap I won from our local GCDC event, but it’s really been iritating my husband’s skin when he take over during bath time. So I’ve been reluctant to try anything new. (We’re thinking he has a bad case of eczema on his hands.) So when I got this soap, I smelled it to make sure it didn’t have too much scent to it then handed it to him to have him test out. He used it during bath time and had no irritation to his hands and it made our boys’ skin nice and soft. It pretty much has no scent, so it can be used on younger babies as well without worry. You can purchase the Goat’s Milk Soap for $5.50 for a bar
The other product I received is called Sweet Baby Dreams – Fizzing Lavender Bath Sands. It’s purpose it to promote deep sleep and soothe minor skin irritations. Just incorporate 1 teaspoon into your baby’s bath time ritual every night. The soothing scent of French lavender will make the bath a relaxing and enjoyable bonding experience for you and your baby. The Sweet Baby Dreams contains baking soda, corn starch, citric acid, Epsom salts, olive oil, water and essential oils of Lavender.
I really like using lavender oil in the bath for our boys because it definitely calms them down in preparation for bed so I was excited to try the Sweet Baby Dreams out. I poured a small amount in (I didn’t measure it out, so I’m not sure exactly how much made it in) and they bathed like they normally do. It was a nice way for them to have a calming bath and I like that I didn’t have to use a carrier oil like I do when I add lavender oil in. This will be a welcome addition to our bath/nighttime routine! The Sweet Baby Dreams- Fizzing Lavender Bath Sands are available for $7.95 per bag.

Which Garden By the Sea product would you like to try?
Great review of some AMAZING products! We have been using Garden by the Sea products for the last two months or so and have been extremely impressed. Not only do we love their baby line, but their Repair Cream has been an amazing relief for my chronic psoriasis. Katie: I saw you reference some potential bad eczema on your husband’s hands – you should order some of the Repair Cream to try on it!
Perfect, thank you! It’s been getting worse, so I’ll definitely have to get him some.
