Questions don’t have to be cloth diaper related, just email maria at change-diapers.com with “Mailbox Mondays” in the subject, or fill out my contact form for readers, which you will always be able to find on my Contact Page.

Eyglo asks:

Is RIT Whitener & Brightener Laundry Treatment safe for cloth diapers? Can we use it like RLR Laundy treatment?

From what I am able to find, the ingredients are salt and optical brighteners. I’ve written about optical brighteners before, since there is some controversy about whether or not the optical brighteners in a “standard detergent” will cause damage or repelling. My personal opinion is that the optical brighteners in detergents are unlikely to cause damage however, I don’t think I would use Rit whitener & brightener. I feel you would have better luck sunning your diapers/inserts.

If you are looking for something to help you “strip” diapers, I always recommend beginning with a bit extra of your detergent, followed by several hot washes with no detergent. I find that adding things often makes things worse!
