Questions don’t have to be cloth diaper related, just email maria at change-diapers.com with “Mailbox Mondays” in the subject, or fill out my contact form for readers, which you will always be able to find on my Contact Page.

Jill asks:

What is the best size of prefolds to stuff inside pocket diapers or best material?

Any trifolded prefold makes a fantastic pocket insert. I love hemp since it is so absorbent for its thickness, and it’s no secret that Geffen Baby is my favorite (in fact, I work for them!) Their XS prefolds are great in any size diaper, the smalls fit perfectly in small diapers, and are more absorbent for heavy wetters.

The M/L are my absolute favorite, since they get my son through the night dry. I fold them the short way in medium diapers, and have used them folded the long way in large diapers when my older son was still wearing them at night. If you have a really, really heavy wetter, you can use the XL in a pocket, but they will be considerably bulkier, since you will have to fold them to fit!

Do you use prefolds in pockets? What size and material do you use?

I use Smart Bottoms Hemp prefolds in a Thirstie Duo or BG 4.0 for overnight-bulletproof under a wool cover

I use prefolds in my pockets. I fold the top down 2-3 inches and then tri-fold them for my heavy wetter. (Stuff thickest part in front for boys and back for girls). I love my prefolds, sometimes I fold a mf insert into the prefold for night time as extra protection if he’s going down early. 🙂

I use newborn prefolds in my pockets for my 23 lb 23 month old. They fit perfectly and I don’t have to worry about them wearing out like microfiber.

I use his GMD newborns as doublers. I also use Osocozy size 1 and they fit in the pockets perfectly.
