Econobum

Leaked instantly! (Probably not fully prepped) I suppose I should give it another chance, but I really don’t care to. I believe the intention is to re-use the cover, only changing the prefold (unless the cover gets really dirty).
At under $10 retail for a set of 1 cover and 1 prefold, this would be a very economical method of diapering, especially if you were to buy just a few, and fill in with plain old (decent) prefolds.
However, I feel that you’d be much better served to buy a few BG 3.0s (approximately 2x the cost of an econobum set), adding to your stash as you could (this is pretty much what I did).
I definitely do not see an econobum lasting through more than one child (I’d be surprised if it lasted more than a few months) nor would I expect it to have any resale value.
I’d definitely put this is the “penny wise, pound foolish” category.
Maria wants to live in a world where cloth diapers are the norm and moms can make parenting choices without judgement. When she’s not chasing her 18, 14 and 11-year old kids around, you might find her checking out the latest gadgets, organizing something (again) or exercising in the fresh air. 
Thanks for the review (and for the input from your commenters)! I’m so torn about this diaper option: the price is perfect and I actually like the white-with-colored-trim look, but so few people give these a full review. I often wonder if it’s because they’re not as “fancy” or if it’s really a lesser quality (leaky!) diaper. Thanks again – love your site!
Honestly, I think they are a fine diaper if you’re really on a budget. I just think another cover (like a Flip for example) is a better quality for just a little more money – especially since the price of Econobum has gone up!

>I really like my econobum. It serves us well and I've been putting it through the ringer. It works over econobum prefolds, all the flip inserts, flats, gdiaper inserts…The BG pocket diapers are nice, but I just can't get over throwing a "cover" into the pail every time a child goes potty. The econobum is ugly as sin, but it does its job. I kind of get sad when it gets soiled and I have to use my other covers.
