Geffen Baby Hemp Reusable Nursing Pads Review & Giveaway (5/23)
Like Geffen Baby’s prefolds and absorbers, their reusable nursing pads are 60% hemp, 40% organic cotton and 100% USA made.
As I have mentioned before, I have been working with Geffen Baby for the past 6 or so months on their product development and marketing. However, I purchased these nursing pads myself, I wasn’t asked to review them, I wasn’t compensated and this post is my opinion as a Mom, I’m not speaking on behalf of the company. 🙂
The nursing pads are available in 3 layers of hemp jersey or hemp fleece, and are really affordable at an MSRP of $7.99/3 pk (3 pair/6 pads) for jersey and $8.99 for fleece. They have the great benefits of hemp including the natural anti-microbial properties and high absorption.
Above, you see the nursing pads measured before I washed & dried them. Like any hemp product, they shrink a good bit, and become more absorbent with the first several washes.
Above you see the hemp jersey (left) and fleece (right) after I washed & dried them a few times to prep for use. I only washed one pair of each (since I’m saving the other 2 pair to give away!) but you can see that no two shrink exactly the same; that’s just the nature of hemp & isn’t a defect.
Above is a close up of the fleece after prep. Not quite as smooth but still very soft.
I thought about taking a picture of what these look like under clothing, but then I thought a close up of my chest might be weird. It’s times like this I wish I had a mannequin! In any case, I think these are thinner than a lot of disposable pads, and as long as I made sure they were completely within the cups and the material laid flat, I didn’t notice them through a lacy bra under a knit top. Of course, it would be better to wear them under a bra with a lining or foam so you don’t have to be as concerned about their placement.
I do not personally need a lot of absorbency from a nursing pad, so I didn’t test their capabilities in that sense, but I am sending the other pairs to two winners to try!

I might have to try these. My mom made me some and I have to double them up so I don’t leak through!
Do they have anything waterproof on the back? All of the cloth ones I’ve used I’ve leaked right through the fabric.
No they don’t. They are all hemp. Have you ever used hemp, or just cotton? I’m not a heavy leaker so I don’t know how they would hold up to that.
Never tried hemp, but I’ve tried bamboo (the “popular” brand, both overnight and regular) and leak through those.
Hmm…you might just need a thicker pads (or double pads) or something with PUL on the back.
Although I would be very curious as to how the fleece GB would hold up to a heavy leaker (once they were fully prepped.)
