Katie received free product for review. If you click & buy, we may receive a small commission, thank you. Geffen Baby has tons of great diaper related products. They have several kinds of prefolds, several kinds of absorbers and even fitted diapers. It’s really a one-stop shop for all your absorbency needs. I recently just reviewed the Jersey prefolds and in case you missed it, you can read my Geffen Baby jersey prefold preview.
Geffen Baby also sent me a three pack of their Super Absorbers Plus inserts to review. All inserts are shaped differently depending on which brand you get and Geffen Baby absorbers are long and rounded at the ends. They’re super trim, but boy do they pack a mean punch. They are made with 60% Hemp and 40% Organic Cotton and are they extremely soft! The Super Absorbers feature ultra soft combed organic hemp/cotton that’s gentle against your baby’s skin and wears in to absorb more efficiently. As with all Geffen Baby products, the absorbers are made in the U.S.A. They’re also pretty straightforward when it comes to laundering. Machine wash warm or hot with no bleach or softener. You can either tumble dry on low or hang dry. So you know, just like the rest of your diaper laundry. The added hemp content not only allows for added strength and absorbency but also durability, anti-mildew and anti-microbial properties.Â
They do require 3 pre-washes to rinse out all the natural oils of the fabric. This also increases the absorbency of the hemp and cotton. However, your absorbers will continue to gain absorbency all the up through the first 8 washes. When choosing which absorbers you’re going to need, you really need to figure out what your baby’s unique needs are. Look for the size and absorbency level that will fit your baby best, regardless of your baby’s age. Geffen Baby put together some guidelines to help you decide in case you’re unsure. Absorbency level one will absorb approximately 2-4 ounces, the level 2 absorbency (Regular) approximately 4-6 ounces and the level 3 absorbency (Plus) approximately 6-9 ounces. Geffen Baby sent me the Plus absorbers which is the highest absorbency level because my kiddo is a pretty heavy wetter and is around 30 or so pounds. He also nurses still quite frequently and drinks water throughout the day. So he wets pretty heavily.Â
The Geffen Baby absorbers are made to be compatible with all brands of cloth diapers. The dimensions of the Super Plus Absorbers are 6″ by 17″ but you should expect some slight shrinkage- less than that of the Quick Absorbers. The absorbers can be layered easily for added absorbency. Whether you need it during the day or during the night. If you’re looking at the absorbers for a teeny baby, you could easily get by with using a single absorber since you change more frequently.
I’ve been pairing mine with the new microfiber Ultra Absorber Plus inserts we reviewed a while back. (You can check out my Geffen Baby Ultra Absorbers plus review if you missed it.) This combo is pretty awesome. I can use it for long car trips, naps or first thing in the morning when the flood gates open. They’re extremely trim together, but let’s be real here, smaller (or in this case trimmer) isn’t always a bad thing! I also like to pair the Super Absorbers Plus inserts with a prefold for nighttime. Especially since he’s been sick lately (I told him not to lick that cart!) he’s been nursing more frequently lately. So when we get him ready for bed, we need something that’s going to stand up to the challenge of keeping our bed dry. And you can’t go wrong with a great prefold and some of these awesome Geffen Baby Absorbers to do the job. We even really just like to use them in our covers during the day when we’re hanging out at home with no extra absorbency and they work really nicely on their own as well.
You can find all of Geffen Baby’s absorbers on their website. They have so many wonderful options so there is definitely something for everyone here. You can get them in packs of 3, 6 or 12 so if you decide to try them out and go for the 3 pack but figure out how much you love them, you can spring for a 12 pack!
