Natural and Organic Food Review

#GetUnreal Unreal Candy Unjunked Review #ImaBzzagent

I try to keep the majority of the food we eat healthy, baking goodies from scratch with real ingredients, but I like to be able to have (and give to my kids) a treat now and again. I’ve mentioned before that I avoid HFCS, hydrogenated oils and food dyes, especially for my daughter (who is more sensitive to them.) Enter the Bzzagent campaign for Unreal candy.

UnrealTM started with a question from a kid: “WHY DOES THE JUNK FOOD WE LOVE HAVE TO BE SO BAD FOR US?”

Unreal candy contains no hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, food dyes, no GMOs, food dyes, preservatives or artificial ingredients, and is made in the U.S. and Canada. They are even working on a sustainable packaging alternative! They are of course, still a treat (less sugar, more fiber and more protein per serving than the traditional candies), but without all the nasty stuff. If you click the links to the candy types within this post, the company compares their “stats” to that of the mainstream equivalent, and also to a fruit. They call fruit “nature’s candy” and say: “Why Fruit? UNREALâ„¢ RECOMMENDS EATING FRUIT TO HIT YOUR SWEET SPOT. IT’S LOADED WITH THE NUTRITION YOUR BODY NEEDS AND TASTES GREAT.” I love that. However, they are filling that need for times when nothing but a sweet, chocolate treat will do!

The candy coated chocolates were my kids’ favorite.

They aren’t super-bright colors, but they didn’t complain!

I’m not a huge chocolate fan, but I found the peanut version pretty tasty.

The chocolate caramel nougat bar and chocolate caramel peanut nougat bar reminded me of another brand of “diet” type bars. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but the chocolate tasted different. Not bad, just different.

My husband, who I suspect has peanut butter coursing through his veins, loved the peanut butter cups. He thought the texture was different than the “big name” PB cups, but he liked them.

I found the candy at CVS, and I believe the regular price was around $1.19 each. Not cheap, but then again, a candy bar is no longer fifty cents like it was when we were kids!

Next time I want to grab a treat for my kids, I will definitely choose Unreal over the other brands.
